How to remove the Battery in the Notification Area?

Is it even possible to remove the Battery Icon from the Notification area at the top of the phone. I have found the remove the Percent % in the notification area, but didn't find any way to remove the Battery Icon. Did a search and found all the posts on the Percent Sign but nothing on the Battery Icon itself.

Ok that is what I was afraid of. And as for rooting my phone, am going to wait on that until there is a more stable version out and a few more months under warranty as I have only had the phone for about a month.

If you install Nova Launcher (or maybe others) you can hide the whole notification bar. I have mine set to toggle with a double-tap. Not sure if that's what you want, but it's the best I've got. ;-)

Haha!! That's EXACTLY how I have mine setup. Double tap to show/hide notification bar.
