After the update I kept getting your phone isn't protected & should have known not to let anything with mcafee on or near my note 3. Now all I keep getting is Verizon support & protect is not responding. Do you want to turn it off. With a choice if OK or wait. It's continual even after deactivating it. Any ideas? It lags my phone & cuts off phone calls. I connect to a web site and all of a sudden it switches to a web page that says something like mcafee has determined websites I'm familiar with don't pass mcafee and aren't safe. I try clicking view anyway and the screen goes black. Ridiculous since it's just the mcafee Verizon Web screen going black the website is fine if I can just get to it on my phone. SO FRUSTRATING, especially since even deactivated I get the Verizon support & protect is not responding popup. Please help me remove this mess.

When you say you deactivated, do you mean that you Disabled it in the App Manager? Does it even allow you to Disable it? I know that some Verizon bloatware can't be Disabled, like Backup Assistant Plus.

Yes you can disable it in the app manager. I have mine disabled and I am not rooted.

To deactivate go to settings> security> device administrators

You'll see Verizon support & protect. Uncheck the box. Then click on it. At the bottom you'll see cancel on left & deactivate on the right.

I activated the android one that was working on the phone. Anyway think it was activated before the Verizon crap.

I do know that the Verizon store employee pulled it up somehow with a different screen that gave a choice of something like turn off, but I haven't been able to find that, or figure out a way to remove it. I thought about dragging it to the trash, but know from experience with McAfee that it leaves little nasties behind, so want to remove it all at once.
Verizon probably gets some kick back from McAfee.

Apparently doing that hasn't stopped it from scanning for viruses but it doesn't check apps or whatever else it's suppose to scan so not sure why it's working when it's suppose to be deactivated. The last straw was it cutting off an important call. Why it would even do or access that is beyond me.

Is there a good app to get? Is the android one the best, or? What about an antivirus? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pop-up up says Verizon support & protect isn't responsding. Do you want to close it? you can choose from wait OR OK. Still getting pop-up even after deactivating it.

Thanks zeuswsu! I looked through the app manager long ago and couldn't find it, not realizing I needed to swipe to see all the apps on the phone since this is my first cell/smart phone. I've always carried a computer with me, even a desktop before laptops were as affordable.

Now to see if I continue to get the "isn't responding" popup. Of course it kept giving me the if you do this other things won't work. I just can't be bothered with it hanging up important calls or not allowing me to visit job sites.
