Title says it all. I've tried turning off everything I can find relating to weather and it's still up there. It's off by 10 degrees all the time. I don't mind the date I just would like to get rid of the temperature.

I couldn't but I didn't like it and that spurred me to try the Nova Launcher. I like it and have the widget I want now rather than the widget Google wants.

I think if you end the weather in the google side screen (swipe right) it will turn into the date in the widget.

I've gone into Customize Feed and Settings. Any seeing with the word Weather, I've turned off. I still have the glaring bold incorrect temperature.

Strange. That's where it pulls from. I know when I turn it off there it turns into the date. Not sure what to tell you.

Swipe Right to get to Google pages. Go on settings and check location.. you can't get rid of the widget as it is part of the OS..

Actually no, it's not part of the OS, it's part of the launcher. Otherwise it'd still be there if you used Nova Launcher.

Hi all,

Press the date/weather widget for 2 seconds
Preferences>At a glance
set all the 3 switches off
exit

Repeat the process but this time set Calendars events on

Enjoy Oreo!!

I did that, but the temperature is still there.

It took a couple of tries but I was able to remove it by just holding my finger on the temp and then a white box came up and asked if I wanted to remove it from the home screen. Just the same way that you remove apps from the screen.

Humm, when I long press any area of the date / temp all I get is a white box with Preferences.

I wanted to do the same thing as the OP. I removed the screen that shows the feed (left swipe) using chrome flags. It also removed the weather from showing in my home screen. I understand that it pulls from the feed screen.

In chrome's address bar, type 'chrome://flags '. Disable anything to do with a New Tab.

Why wouldn't you just use another launcher instead of doing all that?

I guess if you consider marking a few boxes as 'disable' a lot to do, then downloading an app to fix it might be better. I like downloading as few unnecessary apps as possible. Either way though.

Go to calendar. Click on the 3 dots on the right side of the top banner. Click on manage calendars. Weather option is at the bottom (on my phone). I tried it in the settings of the calendar tools but the weather was still there. Under manage calendars, it's finally gone!

The 3 dots in the upper right of calendar app ONLY show "refresh" when tapped, nothing else. Still hoping for a solution to this. It's ridiculous Google insists on displaying a weather icon + temperature EVEN WHEN my phone is completely offline and has been for days!!! How does it make sense to show what is obviously extremely out of date info??? Still hoping for a solution which will actually get rid of it. Thanks!

I managed to solve this after a fruitless call to Google support and a bit of trial and error. I am using a Pixel 2xl with Pie.

1. Go to the Google app page (the one to the left of your home screen that streams news articles etc. You might have to enable this if you have disabled it) 2. Click on the 3 dots at the top right hand side of the screen. 3. Select "Customise Discover". 4. Scroll down to the "Weather" option. 5. Click "View all settings". 6. In the "Updates" area turn off the "Weather updates" and "Weather updates for your location" toggles. 7. Push "FINISHED" at the top right of the page.

Now...you have to wait....possibly 12 -24 hours! It seems that the temperature info on the home screen refreshes only periodically and references the settings you have just changed. It is only when this refresh happens that the temp gets turned off. I made the changes in the afternoon and it was only the next morning that the temp had disappeared from the home screen.

Hope this works for you too.

Thanks Gary, you're a genius. I find it hard to believe anyone could figure this out from "trial and error". Are you sure that call to Google was "fruitless"?

By choice I never wish to have the weather showing on my home screen. I can look out of the window......

Anyway, I have had on-off problems with this issue, using Pixel Launcher, which I'm happy with apart from this problem. I have a Pixel XL, fully updated to Pie with the latest patch from this month. The latest "symptom" I have is that when I'm using Wi-Fi, the date AND temperature show. When I switch to cell data, after a few minutes the temperature disappears. On switching back to Wi-Fi, the temperature re-appears again! This only happened towards the back end of 2018 following an update to one of the Google apps but I cannot isolate which one.

I have pretty much everything turned off that I don't use/need, including Google Assistant, location services, Discover. You name it, I've disabled it. And yet I STILL get the damn temperature when using Wi-FI.

I wish Google would just amend the Pixel launcher and give everyone the option of what we can display on our Home screens. Surely it's not that difficult?

It looks like I will have to go to an alternative launcher, which is no great hassle but I like to keep my phone as "vanilla" as possible.
