How to restart my phone when the power button isn't working?

Hello,

It's been a while that my power button isn't working and it's hard to get it to HTC from where I live. I could work with it while double clicking on the screen but now the problem is that the screen won't lighten up it's kind of blocked with my earphones: I can receive calls and listen to music which lighten up the screen but only with the command of my earphones. Is there a way to restart the phone? I tried to plug it into charge or my PC and it doesn't open up but I know that the phone is on...
Oh and when I receive a call for example I can't answer it by clicking on the screen neither stop the music, I can only use the command of the earphones!!

Short the two contacts on the power switch for a second and it'll turn on. (That's all the button does - it shorts the contacts.)

I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by "shorting the two contacts". Can you be a little more specific please?
