[How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Hi sfhub,
here is the log file from LG Updater Tool. I hope you know what the problem is and have a fix for it. Thanks:

Notice in bold in the lines there were several attempts to connect with no success and then a little window pops up at 30% progress that says usb cable and cell phone not connected, check the connection.... or something like that. It wouldn't let me copy and paste that little error window. I don't know what's wrong.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Does your phone get recognized with adb? Do you have USB debugging turned on?

What does it say under start->run->devmgmt.msc?

Do you see modem or port entries for your phone?

BTW is there a particular reason you want ZVC?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Yes everything checks out. adb recognizes it. usb debugging is on, I made sure of that from the start. And the ports are there and enabled. What could be the problem? Just doing some experimenting with the phone plus I don't wanna root just yet and ZVC is the only functional firmware that still allows tethering. But just wanna experiment and try different things. Any more suggestions on this updater tool issue would be greatly appreciated. :)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

So you have all these defined in devmgmt.msc?

Code:
ADB Interface
Android Platform Sooner Single ADB Interface

Modems
  LGE Android Platform USB Modem

Ports (COM & LPT)
LGE Android Platform USB GPS NMEA Port
LGE Android Platform USB Serial Port

No yellow triangles?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Yes to all 4 with no triangles.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Is there any other way to revert if the updater don't work for me?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I think you may have a vista permission or xp compatibility problem.

Could you make sure everything is running as Admin?

You might need to reinstall the software as Admin also.

Could you also verify you followed the XP-compatible instructions here:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...670vc-using-kp500-diag-mode-3.html#post668313

Not just after you installed it, but before you ran the installer (referring to the LG Mobile Support Tool)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Well I don't think that's the problem either bc my gf has an Optimus S too and I used the exact same program on hers a few months ago to revert it back to VD bc she didn't want VH and it worked just fine.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Do you think I should try an esn repair or something perhaps maybe that could help? I have all the tools to do that, qpst, qxdm and cdma workshop. Just a thought.

It could be a real pain in the rear, especially if you have the new LCD.

You would have to root your current version, install Xionia recovery, and find a nandroid backup of ZV9.

Once you install anything V9, if you have the new LCD, you'll have no visual feedback at all and will have to do everything blind. You might be able to use screencast to make your life easier, but a wrong step here or there and you'll be doing things blind again.

Once you get V9 android on there you can apply the V9->VC OTA update.zip. That should get you back to VC.

There are a lot of steps and nobody has written out the instructions nor have they assembled the files.

I really don't understand why your same install would work for the other Optimus S but not yours unless it is an XP-compatible or admin issue. You say your phone is recognized by ADB so it shouldn't be a driver issue.

The USB ports in windows are tied to the ESN # and that might be confusing the drivers. I see you are on boost. You could try changing it back.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

No I was just wondering if an esn repair could possibly solve it bc a friend of mine suggested it saying that it could help but I wouldn't know how to go about the repair. And as far as the XP compatibility thing, I'm not sure if I did do that but like I said it worked on another phone.

Don't worry about how insensical it sounds, but have you tried a different USB cable?

Sometimes USB cables can fail in strange ways. The one that came with my Optimus began "failing" by not identifying the phone as a USB 2.0 device, then sometimes it would disconnect in the middle of an ADB shell session, when it was working fine for hours. I thought it was the USB port on the phone, but it turned out to be the cable.

Basically you have 3 choices:
1) continue figuring out what is wrong with the the updater (you seem to have no appetite for that because you really aren't willing to retrace steps back to step 0)
2) use the outline I gave you above to install ZVC through a nandroid restore and applying the OTA V9->VC update.zip
3) give up

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

So you think that is my only other option is to root and go back to v9 and update to vc? Do you know if anyone has a nandroid backup of v9?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Ok. You just answered my above question. Lol. No I haven't tried a different cable but I will try it thanks. And it's not that I'm not willing to retrace my steps bc I have been doing that. I have been trying over and over to see if it's a problem with the updater but to no avail so yes I have done what you had mentioned in the first option. ;)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Hey what if I can find someone that has a nandroid backup of vc? Then I can bypass the hassle of dealing with v9 blindly all together. You think that would work?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Hey sfhub you still online?

The reason I'm suggesting you go to V9 and do the OTA V9->VC update.zip is it will update your radio to VC.

Doing the nandroid restore to VC doesn't touch your radio.

Now what we've found in the past is ROMs don't mix well with mismatched radios.

In the case of VC, it *might* work ok with VD radio since the changes were minor, but no guarantees. It is safest to have ROM and Radio matched in version.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Ok I understand. Thanks for your help. I'll report back here soon with the results as soon as I can try it.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

By the way, do you know anyone that has a nandroid backup of v9?
