How to Root, Install Safestrap, and custom ROMs

You can try that.

Last sentence in English lol. Go to the Motorola website and download the stock files for the phone it might/should knock out root and start you over. Do this after you trying rebooting

I've read through all nine pages of this thread, and frankly, I have zero confidence that I have the information I need to successfully root my Razr Maxx, then install a new ROM. My first, and probably most difficult issue is Mac vs. PC. The utility mentioned at the start of the OP is Windows, and I don't see a Mac option.

My one year old Razr Maxx is often sluggish and unresponsive, and I'm looking for a solution.

SWMBO has a Bionic Maxx (awesome battery!) that is slick as two eels in a bucket of snot.

Problem installing new ROM with Safestrap

Hello
I followed your advice, but at the time of loading the new ROM, safestrap told me 'update aborted' and from that moment the phone only goes safestrap.
It 'a Motorola Droid 4 with JB 4.1.2 installed and tried to install the ROM European I9300XXUFME7_I9300OXAFME7_OXA.
My steps:
- I rooted the phone with ROM utility
- I installed safestrap
- I did the reboot and entered the menu safestrap (I say NOT ENABLED)
- I went into 'safe boot menu' and I have enabled the safe system
- I then followed your steps

What can I do now to reset the phone?

thanks

I am very confused, I can go into AP Fastboot but it says my device is locked, the battery is OK, and other things, nothing about "The Goods"

Re: Problem installing new ROM with Safestrap

It certainly seems there is not a way to root the Razr Maxx with the latest version of Smart Actions (4.2.2.4.2) installed. I've tried all of the recommendations from this forum (as well as from several other respected ones) multiple times and multiple ways (FDR, installing the old version of Smart Actions, disabling the lock screen, enable USB debugging in MTP mode, etc.) with no success. Although I'm disappointed, it just gave me a reason to do a full format and start fresh while trying anyway. Being able to root would indeed be sweet, but I'm still more than satisfied with my Maxx as I've always been since day one.

12/18 update:
I'm convinced rooting is no longer possible, but I'm still very pleased w/my non-rooted Maxx.
