How to setup VoIP for inbound and outbound?

I know others have posted on this same issue, but the URL links I have tried are not working. I have tried the following 3 services: gizmo, ipKall, and sipgate. Sipgate doesn't have more phone numbers, I don't yet have a microphone on my computer so I can't use my computer for gizmo. And ipkall sent me a number.

First, do I download these services onto my phone or computer? Second, I can't verify my ipkall number in google voice. When I try to verify, it keeps ringing my computer. Even though in GV I set on the Phones tab my ipkall number ONLY. (I unchecked my Google Chat # and mobile number).

I changed the phone number on my droid to the ipkall number. Was this the correct thing to do? I did register at sip.antisip.com and configured inbound and outbound PBXes. But I'm not sure what to do with these. I downloaded CSipSimple and Sipdroid onto my phone. I also setup both of these. (I used wizard for CSipSimple). I am trying to use CSipSimple though because it is simpler.

Why is my droid not ringing or verifying? What else do I need to do?

True ...but some of us may be penny pinching due to unfortunate situations....

The developer way back when Groove IP first kicked off. Spent tons of time getting the app to work right on the Optimus via communicating with community right from this very forum. Really is a great dev. Even implemented several features the community suggested, So when you are done pinching pennies be sure to buy Groove IP.

Will do

That's what I had done as I was even up front with the developer that I had boot legged his app. (GrooVeIP)..

He was cool about it & has even integrated ideas into the app that I had thought of.
I soon then bought the app as any developer that helps someone like myself after stealing there app should be paid for there work.

BACK TO SUBJECT:
Sipgate may be worth looking into as well.
But I do highly recommend GrooVeIP. As it's supper easy for setup & the support is beyond fantastic.

I think I rooted my phone. Now how do I change the phone number?

You won't be changing your main cell number. You'll be adding an editianol number (called a VoIP number).

Just sign in to Google &/or search for GOOGLE VOICE"..

From there sign up for a number then download Google Voice (this is so you can get voice mail & txt messages)..

From there get GrooVeIP (or checkout sip or any other VoIP means).
Then just add your Google Voice Number to what ever app your runnen & enjoy..

YouTube & Google searching will help you further..

& just so you know. You don't need to be RooTed to run any forms of VoIP services.

Thanks guys for the tips! I installed Groove IP yesterday and it works like a charm for outgoing calls! However, I cannot receive inbound calls on this phone. How do I set that up? I want to change the phone number on my Optimus to the one given me by ipkall. But I don't see a way to change it even though I ran GingerBreak and created superuser.

Even sweeter! I got it working now so people can call me! (I checked the box next to Google Chat). Only issue now is how do I set it up so that when others call me they don't get the initial "Record ur name while ur party is reached"?

I finally got my Optimus V working with free voice calls over WiFi (VoIP) using Groove IP for outbound and Google Voice for inbound. This Android works inside my house now.

But when I took it to Panera Bread company, I was not able to connect there due to the error to the effect: "Cannot connect; you must open port 5222".
How do I open this port?
