How to stop browser hijack

Running Android 6.0.1. Samsung browser is now directing all the time to 'go . free mobi world . com'. Have cleared cache, deleted browsing history, forced stop and re-started phone. Samsung security software is not detecting anything. How do I either remove this pre-installed browser or stop it taking me to this site? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you open the browser and go to more / settings / homepage you should be able to change it to something else.

Thanks but homepage is already set to something else. That has never changed it's just this site (which I wasn't aware of going to) seems to be the permanent destination no matter what the normal settings say. It is not possible to access the browser settings whilst the browser is running - I can access them via the manage applications page hence I know the homepage is still correctly set (although being over-ridden in some way?)
