AC Question

When I go to chrome, I hit the mic button, and say "Time in New york", it searches it, but also says it out loud to me. I dont want it to do that. How do I stop my voice searches from talking back to me the answers, I just want to search it not hear it out loud.

I have a galaxy s5.

I know its NOT the Now Cards thing, I tried checking that.

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Open Google Settings, then tap Search & Now>Voice>Speech Output, and turn it to Off.

There is no option to turn it off in Speech Output settings. Only choices are "On" or "Hands-free only". What the heck? I want to turn it off!

What happens if you select Hands-free Only? That should limit it to speaking when you're using a Bluetooth or wired headset.

go to google app, get to the screen that looks like Google now, open the menue from the top left hand corner, click settings, click voice, turn off speech output

What game2t is saying, though, is that there's no "Off" setting for Speech Output--only "On" or "Handsfree Only."

Hands free only setting still talks back every time I do a voice search on Google Chrome. This is without a headset or bluetooth. Frustrating as I don't want to listen to a sometimes fairly lengthy response to my search query as I can read it much faster. Any ideas? Note I have a Samsung Tab A and a Samsung Note 4 and the problem occurs on both.
