How to stop notifications sound

For at least a week my notification alert sounds off at least a dozen times a day! I check the phone and there is no email or text message.

I've had McAfee Security installed since I bought the phone. Ran a deep scan twice. I checked battery and data usage, nothing out of the ordinary.

Driving me crazy, any ideas? The phone is about a year old.

Check all your apps - one of them might have notifications enabled and either you forgot that you enabled them, or you didn't know that they were enabled when you installed it.
