When you plug in the phone to charge (or start wirelessly), the screen comes on. Is there any way to disable this?
Its a bit annoying to always need to turn the screen off after putting it down to charge.
Agreed. It seems like you are causing your own annoyance because of the 10 minute time out. I don't know of any other solution for your issue besides lessening the screen timeout.
I have my screen timing off after 10min, so if i dont turn it off manually, it will stay on for that long.
Its annoying in several situations, such as when dark in bed, and place it on the wireless charging pad on the bedside table, I then have to manually turn it off, otherwise the ceiling is lit up for 10min. Likewise, in the car it stays on , therefore taking longer to charge than it should.
Are you not locking the phone? When my phone is locked and I plug it in -- it turns on for about 10 seconds or less then shuts back off. It doesn't sit on the lock screen for 10 minutes (or in my case my 1 minute lockout).
With smart lock, the phone does not lock in mu car or house

Without trying to sound sarcastic, is it that hard to hit the power button when you put it on the charger? I sometimes go to bed after my wife, and I simply hit the power button to turn the screen off.
It is annoying af my time out is 10 minutes also because I'm constant on my phone. Handling 2 businesses you need that screen on. Battery had to be charged often and it's annoying to always have to hit the button to black screen it when you hook the charger to it. Its not charging fast enough if the screen is on. There should be an option to bypass the screen turning on when charging...a sound would be good enough
I agree completely. Why are there so many dumb replies about not understanding why it would bother someone or that you can just turn off the power button? If you are not contributing, then don't reply so that people actually trying to solve the problem don't have to scroll through your garbage.
I have the same problem - as anyone that does not sleep alone might - in that my wife goes to bed before me and the 8+ lights up the entire room when it starts charging and she can sometimes be woken up from it if she happens to face towards my side. I've taken to using my shirt to place the phone on the wireless charger so that it's covered for the flash. It's hard to see if it's actually on the charger properly though...
Thanks in advance for any solutions.
