How to store an android tablet for three months.

I have recently bought a Lenovo Yogapad 10 tablet to give to one of my cousins as a gift. Something showed up recently, and now I have to meet him after three months. I was wondering how should I store the tablet, as I have heard that batteries need to be charged on regular basis? Can I just keep it in a closet without charging it after a week or so, or do I need to keep charging it on a regular basis for three months ?
I am new to these gadgets so apologies if its a total dumb question.

You should discharge the battery to about 40% and store it in a cool place.
