how to turn on the FM radio on Samsung Galaxy Prime

My FM radio was working fine, but too quiet, until I tried to increase the volume. Now I only get static. Any suggestions.? BTW, I live in Mexico. Don't know if that is relevant to this issue.

Not relevant if you have a local FM station. Are your earphones plugged all the way in?
