AC Question

I got my parents both new phones for Christmas. As they aren't power users, I thought 100 bucks a piece for great condition S5 Actives was a good deal. Only problem is, I can't update the firmware for the damn things. I tried the built in firmware updater, but it's still saying it's at the proper firmware (4.2) Although for some reason, one phone came with 5.1.1. How can I update the firmware? I've seen plenty of places saying there is an update but I can't seem to find any firmware to download. Even Samsung Kies says it's the accurate version. Any help?

The update may not have been pushed by AT&T to that unit for some reason. First thing to do is try checking using Samsung Smart Switch. Should be supported (it supported my Note 2 if I recall correctly). If it still says no update, you can try downloading an image (I typically get my files from sammobile.com or in this forum) and manually flashing it using Odin.

Or find your local AT&T Device Support Center, bring the phones in and ask them if there's an update and, if there is, can they flash it for you on both phones.
