Hello guys..

major problem. I was going through my sd card that i had on my v10, trying to sort out family pics/vids. I had a folder that contained a load of pics and videos and only 3 of them are viewable. the rest have a .dm after the jpg or mp4 extension.

I googled this and i found out that these files were once locked/hidden in the gallery app. Well, I no longer have my v10 or have access to any android phone. Is there any way to view or unlock these files on my computer? I did not know that these files would be encrypted or anything once off of the device. Am i screwed?

Have you tried the simplest thing first? Put the files on a PC and set file extensions to be viewable. Then remove the .dm extension. I doubt it would be that easy but you never know. You can also try a program like fileviewpro. That should work to open any .dm extension file. Hope this works for you.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, i've tried chaning permissions and renaming.. did not work. I also tried that software. they claim its free but its not. In order to actually open files, you have to pay. I dont want to pay for that especially not knowing if it works or not.

Sorry. Guess I should have looked into it more before suggesting it. Most software will at least let you try it before you buy it. Too bad you don't have a friend with a V10 that could unlock them for you with his phone...of course who knows if that would even work. They may be encrypted to only unlock with your device.

I've read on some other forum that viewing them on the same model phone has worked. It just sucks that my files were actually encrypted. I just thought that the phone would just plain hide the files instead.
