I like to wipe the cache partition on my Android devices after the initial setup but I can not find a way to do it on my ASUS Z580C ZenPad S 8.0.

I have done the Power + Vol Up and I get to the Droidboot screen that offers a Factory Reset, SD Download and some reboot and Power Off Options, no Recovery or Wipe Cache Parition.

I have tried Power + Vol Down and that leads to either a normal Power On sequence or back to a Power Off condition.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks Salvatore but the only mention to "cache" on that page is 166mb of "Cached Data". I don't want to do that as that would remove any number of my app logins, etc. The cache partition contains APKs used to initialize the device including many that are now obsolete. On all of my other devices it is accessed from a bootloader screen

Thanks, I already tried that. Recovery or Wipe Cache Partition is not a displayed option. The only options displayed are shown in the attached file.

BTW, I got the following from Asus Support:
Code:
Dear Mr. Tom ,
For the problem you mentioned, could you please follow the steps to do a wipe data?
**Warning: Wiping data will erase all user data/downloaded apps. The data/downloaded apps are irrecoverable after the reset. If possible, please back up the information before proceeding.

1. Power off device and press Power button + Volume untill screen powers on
2. Select "factory reset/wipe all data" from the menu (using "Volume Up/Down”to select and "Power" buttom to confirm)

Sorry for the inconvenience and hope this helps!

If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Looks like they can't tell me how to do this either.

FWIW, selecting Factory Reset jumps right and resets everything without asking you to confirm. I learned that the hard way.

I have the same issue as well and would love to know if you found a solution.

Tho I must admit I did enjoy reading all the bunk advice on this thread... including that which came from Asus itself. Registered just so I could say that. Great stuff guys!

No. I've not found a way to wipe the Partition Cache. In fact, I tried another set of instructions (having forgotten about this thread) and did another restore to factory settings. 😕 The good news is I haven't really found a need to do it as I have had on dome other tablets. This just keeps running well.

you could use the root zenpad method, this brings up a CWM screen which you would normally flash supersu. Instead clear the cache and reboot.

Sorry. As I said in my post of 16 April 2016, there is no way to wipe the cache that I've found. I quit worrying about it long ago.
