[How-To] Wireless Tether for VD

http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...alling-ota-ls670vc-using-kp500-diag-mode.html

Both of you will have to follow that thread and revert to V9

Read the first page of that post - read it a few times before doing anything!

Then read the rest of the thread - there are always good questions and answers within.

Once you have done that, if you have any questions before you start - ask in that thread, not here.

None of this is hard - just go slowly and pay attention to what you are doing.

no more hotspot widget

In my haste to update an app, I mistakenly let the update run this morning. I'm now at 2.2.2 and the widget is disabled. Should I try to get a tech at the store to flash my ROM back to 2.2? I haven't rooted the phone and was using the widget for remote locations where no other wifi existed. Now what???

I have not rooted my phone either, and I need my hotspot to get on the net ( i do not have access anywhere but a wegmans etc...)

this sucks.

Has anyone confirmed the different ZVD builds that I found?

I'm with SF .... I believe theres only 1 VD build. I updated the very day the build came out in LG tool (3/10/2011) and the update was ZVD.41B2924E which broke hotspot.

Where did you see reference to a "straight" ZVD build that "works". The only build I am aware of is ZVD.41B2924E. It may be displayed differently in various status pages, but there is only one release I know of.
Hmmmm Satruday Afternoon when I went to Settings -> About Phone the Build Number was listed as "ZVD" and the SW Version was listed as "LS670ZVD". I had ZVC and did an OTA update to ZVD sometime last week. Then Sunday morning I was half awake and accepted another OTA update which I was hoping was ginger . . . but alas it was Build Number "ZVD.41B2924E"

Now . . . I was really tired this weekend . . . but I am pretty darn sure that I am not losing my mind . . . soooooo was there a two stage update that was applied? Did Sprint roll out a ZVD then a ZVD.41B2924E the following week? Right now my phone is qued up to install the ZVD update . . . it is downloaded to my phone but I am not sure which version it is. (And of course I keep clearing the notice to reboot and install) If you can tell me where it is located in the file structure I can pull it off and send it to ya if that helps.

Hmmm maybe I was more tired that I thought this weekend then . . . LOL If So I apologize. I can't say 100% that I am correct . . . I remember showing a colleague how to check the version as they wanted live wallpaper so I was on that screen Saturday. And I can say with out a doubt, I was half asleep when I looked at and accepted the OTA Sunday morn, so I have NO idea what it said . . . LOL

Like I said, I can pull off the build that is staged on my phone, but I dont know where the updates are downloaded to on the phone.

I'm running SW Version: LS670ZVD and ThundeROM-V1.8 and my hotspot widget works just fine. I just tested it. Am I missing something?

Well to get the chronology straight.

ZVD has been around for a little over 2 weeks.

ZVD was first available for over a week *only* via sideloading with LG Mobile Update Tool. This version was ZVD.41B2924E.

Than around a week ago (which was a week after ZVD first came out), ZVD became available as an OTA update. While it is possible there were actually two OTA updates for ZVD, the likelihood of that is low as nobody else has seen the straight "ZVD" update as you call it, and the full update the OTA was based off that was released a week earlier was already ZVD.41B2924E.

If you can obtain the .cab file for this straight "ZVD" update (contained in your /cache partition, we can compare the files to see if they are different.

Ok, I will take a peek at rooting with thunder rom I am just apprehensive. I am not very good at this.

Complete newb here, but after reading the thread I felt comfortable.

I followed the instructions to revert using KP500 and it completed. After the LG Mobile Support Tool completed and the phone rebooted, I received and error that my Gmail app stopped working. Now all of my Google apps (gmail, market, latitude, etc) have seemed to not be installed. Completely lost now & have no idea how to get market/etc back installed..

LG optimus LS670ZVD update

Is there any way to revert my phone back to the way it was before the LS670ZVD update that made it so the hotspot widget doesn't work for free?

Since that update my phone won't even sync to my computer so I can't even do file transfers or internet tethering.

That can all be fixed, either when you go back to the VC/VD version or if you wipe data/cache. The important part is rooting and installing CWMA recovery.

Follow the revert instructions in my signature. Then install TR1.8.2. If you don't want to install a custom ROM, for the step that asks you to update to ZVD, instead, substitute KP500 Force Flash to ZVC.

I fell for the update and lost my HOT SPOT tethering for my laptop. I was furious that they did this. Unlimited shouldn't matter if its your phone or your PC. Whats the diff?
Anyway... from what I'm reading here, I will be able to go back to VC and restore the tethering, correct?

I'm a newbie here and PC literate, but never messed with a phone. some of the lingo has me stumped.

Thanks for the help. Its amazing that any time providers mess something up for the consumer, you can always read FORUMS to find answers! Love it!!!
