I've been using 2.0.7 and it works perfectly. I could not get 3.0 to work at all. Are you trying to use 3.0 because you need infrastructure tethering?

I actually think version 2.0.7 is the one I tried first based upon a post I read. I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I need to try it again to be sure.

The only reason I'm using 3.0 is cause it seems to work for me allowing to connect our devices to the epic. Honestly, I don't even know what infrastructure tethering is. Strangely, I can access the hotspot using encrypted connections today.

Not really other than remove the backing if you want. My wife uses wireless tethering often on her Epic and has never had issues where its gotten to hot. The Epic like other devices has a built in safety if the phone gets too hot it will shut down to protect itself.

According to his devices and theme he's using a Samsung Droid Charge running my fellow AC Adviser's ROM, Altered Beast so his modem version is not going to matter since he's not on an Epic 4g.


Modem version shouldn't have anything to do with how warm/hot your device gets. I know the device does heat up, hence that is the reason one of the options under settings in Wireless Tethering is to monitor battery temp.

I have changed from altered beast to gummy. Still not sure which one
I like better. Would that have anything to do with it.
