How tough/impossible is it to fix a phone with a defective charging port?

Not sure if that's even correct terminology. But, you know, where it plugs in, if it doesn't register as charging, or recognize it?
How tough is that to fix? Looking at a 2 that has one...it's cheap..nothing else is wrong with it..it might be worth the hassle..Is it possible to dissect it and fix something like that?

If you have to ask, it's probably not a good idea LOL!
Anything can be fixed, IMHO, but in this case you need to have mad soldering skills. One false move and you can fry the board o_O
Google around for some tear down pics/videos so you can see what you're getting into before you buy.

If it's not the cable, I would just get a second battery and standalone battery charger and swap them out. Granted you still won't be able to transfer anything via the bad port, but you could always use Bluetooth. It would be a pain, but better than killing the phone with a bad solder job.
