They could call whatever they want, names never bother me. I just want the latest device whatever it's called![]()
Well I checked Verizon and in major cities it's not prevalent. In fact it's almost non-existent. Are you suggested the infrastructure is almost ready and they just have to throw the switch? We also have to be careful of what we call 5G since all Generations are not created equal.
They use galaxy to brand the line of phones or mobile products should I say. The "galaxy" branding has taken a whole level of branding in itself kind of like what Verizon did with the droid name. It's clever as some feel content with getting a lower end phone by Samsung in comparison to other brands due to it being called a galaxy. Not like the S series popped up over night it's been over night. 12+ years and going strong.
Good point !I don't necessarily agree. I think @hasasimo is spot on. Unless someone is a tech person, nobody has ever asked me if I was using the new Sxx. Occasionally somebody will mention the Galaxy name. They ask if it's the new Samsung almost every time. I think they did a good job with the Note branding, but not the S branding. I think the flagship series should've had a distinct name that could differentiate itself from the lower tier Galaxy phones. A good example of well done branding is iPhone. Whether you like the iPhone or even Apple as a company they did a great job branding iPhone.
As far as the numbering convention I don't mind them switching to 20. It makes as much sense going by the year as it does sequentially by model.
