How you guys keep changing roms easily? (not sure that you do)

Isn't a pain in the ass to redownload all your apps and configure your setting all over again? These rom update like every 2 weeks. I guess ill just wait till 2.2 comes out officially lol. Takes me forever to put my phone back to awesome settings. I just update 2 days ago, and they just keep changing :-O. I want to be up to date with the kernels but man...

I'm not *****ing, i'm just wondering if there is something i don't know. Backing up is nice, but you can't do that to something new

Yes I understand u but u got to have the time to do this. And yes I have to restore all my old setting and apps..I like to try different roms to see wat best fits me...and to also try something new...I try out a new rom every week to see wat I like. But once 2.2 roms hit ill lay-off a bit..I'm not really into android 2.3 and 3.0...give me 2.2 roms and I'm good to go..lol

you can restore your data using clockwork recovery. No need for titanium. IN clock work go to backup and restore --- advance --- restore data only. have you back up in no time.

what all data does that restore? Just apps or apps and data and ringers and messages or what? I always use titanium but if this is easier lol im on it

Actually you don't need to wipe when installing a kernel - just flash it on top of your current system.

Be careful when restoring data with Clockwork - if you seem to be having a lot of problems that others are not with a certain ROM, it could be because of this. Not sure if it still happens, but the battery circle w/percentage was causing restored data from Clockwork a lot of problems. I just play it safe and always reinstall everything manually.

I used to restore data through clockwork but its a ***** when you have to wipe and do it all over again.

But honestly its really easy to restore your settings and clockwork restores my apps
I also enjoy trying new settings like I typically dont use haptic feedback but I'm currently using it. I think I'm gonna turn it off for acoustic sound on the key board.

I have only the apps I truly want backed up so its not bloated and can try new things out. And only restore apps with data to prevent force closes

I also only use 2 roms and might try new ones out every now and then to try or if I hear good things

Its really not that big of a deal

hmm thanks guys.

I though the restoring on clockwork mod, was backing up everything including rom. I use that chompsms (iphone look sms to see both sides more convinent)
and launcher pro ( both payed versions that i got for free :D if anyone wants.. let me know). It's a pain in ass to fix the settings everytime lol

So Titanium app will back up all your apps?

Thing is guys, in order to really have a clean installs, i think it is better to wipe your phone (not sd card of course) and set back to factory settings and then applying rom and kernel. I didn't really like mixing kernels with other roms, sometimes i think doesn't run as smooth, haven't done it enough though.

As of right now, i'm running the syndicate rom and extreme kernel. It is truely amazing, the only thing i really want now is good battery life. This setup last me to about a day and a half and that's even when i don't have service because i work in the basement of a building. Roams on verizon, but i think it keeps searching.

Someone said they got crazy battery life and 5 time better battery life on baked snack (1.6) then syndicate and xtreme.

Is it worth to redo it all again.. i dunno. Based on some speculations because i love to read lol... i believe that *OFFICIAL* 2.2 should be out within the next few days. (Hopefully)

As for 2.3 and 3.0, the Nexus 2 will take care of that for us. Once that's out, Samsung will really need to up their game meaning they will release for us too. But that's like in February/January.
