How's 5.0.2 running?

I received notice yesterday that OTA 5.0.2 is available for installation on my N7 2013. What's everyone's experience so far? I loaded 5.0 on my N7 2012 and it was terrible, so I'm a little hesitant to go from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 on my 2013 as I believe there is still a memory leak bug that hasn't been fixed yet. Thanks in advance for any shared experiences.

I sideloaded it yesterday over 5.0.1 and so far, so good, no issues. It does seem a bit snappier but it's difficult to tell as I had no performance problems with 5.0.1.

I had network issue with 5.0.1 but 5.0.2 seems to have fixed that ... so I'm happy (with fingers still crossed).

Were you able to keep root when sideloaded?

For people going from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2, are you doing a factory reset for a clean install?

I JUST received the OTA notification to upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 (very small update) on my Nexus 7 2013 WIFI here in Chicago. Will let you know what I find after the restart....

I got the notification also, but haven't installed it yet. I am waiting to hear feedback from others. Also, I assume I will have to reroot the device.

Thanks,

Rick

FYI, "snappier" is all about ART runtime, which you can enable in developer options in KitKat. It makes app starting and switching much quicker.

Got it this afternoon. All seems to being running fine.

My snappier comment was regarding the difference between 5.0.1 & 5.0.2 - 5.0.2 seeming slightly better.

Same here... so far at least, less lagginess than 5.0.1. Haven't gotten any slow home screen redraws yet as I was getting before. OTA came last evening.

I installed 5.0.2, OTA, from 4.4.4 on my Nexus 7 (2012) and did a factory reset after I downloaded and installed it. My Nexus 7 was already lagging on 4.4.4 and I was hoping by downloading 5.0.2 I might not have to do a reset. But of course it was still slow. Once I did the reset my Nexus is running faster and smoother. I'm very happy with results. I'm not an expert so I don't know which is better if you reset before you download and install the new OS or after. Good luck

I have been having random reboot/boot loop/boot locking issues for the last month. I did a factory reset 2 weeks ago and it seemed to be better, but last night, after having 5.0.2 for a day, it happened again. I thought it was an app that was causing it, but the only app that I had loaded before the looping started, I didn't re-install. Getting really annoying and concerning.

Wow. The 2 other people I know with nexus, plus myself, and people with other android devices have all reported more regular app crashes, lag. I even had the report crash dialogue crash.
If it weren't for that, everything about the update is a plus. BUT, it is nice to not have facebook crash when it is the only app you are even slightly trying to use.
Device is not rooted or anything.

After seeing your note I charged up my Nexus and saw that 5.0.2 was waiting for me. 5.0.1 was a huge power drainer and I was having trouble keeping it charged. After installing 5.0.2 the power is down 8% since yesterday (without hardly any use) but that’s a big difference over 5.0.1, so my Nexus might become usable again.

My iPad 2 though will last for weeks without the battery draining out of it.

I have had ART enabled on my devices since it was available in KK. I do see a difference between ART in KK and LP. For instance, the weather widgets I have on my home screen have gone from taking 15-20 seconds to load in KK, to less than 3 seconds to load on LP. That's a pretty big difference. I myself questioned what people running the early versions of LP claiming that there was a big difference between ART in KK and LP, but I'm a believer now.
