How's the Build Quality Holding Up?

Those pictures of the phone are clearly stress bends from being bent. Most likely over time. No offense, but they don't just happen for no reason. I keep my phone (a G3) in my front jeans pocket and sometimes while working and deep bending I can feel the stress against the phone. I sometimes have stood up and pulled my phone out just see if I did any damage, in particular a cracked screen, as the body is plastic.I wouldn't blame LG if something happened.

With your issue, you are doing something that is causing it. With that said, I am not suggesting it isn't a build flaw in the phone and it is all your fault. It is definitely worth going after them for a replacement. Because something they consider abuse is something you believe is normal use. It can be a fine line. If it were me, I would still try to figure out what caused it. Even if it doesn't seem like it should harm the phone. Everyone going with a metal build these days and with thinner and thinner metal to keep costs down, so likely you might do it to another phone.

You might still try Google to get some help, because it does have their name on it. Even if you didn't buy it through the play store. Google sold it to Best Buy to resale to you.

I get what you are saying about the bend and if I had a hard case that I removed frequently or if I kept the phone in my pockets and sat down with it, etc I would understand. But the issue is I do not even keep it in my pocket. I do not take my case off. I think I have taken it off no more than 3 times and I never try to force it off from the side. I remove it from the corner first and it is not hard to take it that I have to force it. I understand the line between abuse and manufacturer defect, but I know how I use my phone and I am very very careful. It stays on the dock when I am at work and on a dock when I am at home (not on charge of course). If it was forced would you not see more stress on that side? But I definitely do see you point that it could be on me and I will not be ignorant to that fact, but I do try to keep my phone in a pristine condition as I cannot change it on a yearly basis.
But as I said Google is not able to help me. I will be approaching Best Buy in regards to this as they will physically inspect the item and hopefully they will give me a better response. In any case the reason to post it out there was definitely to get everyone to know what is going on and maybe there are more cases out there. Huawei did say they have a "list" going to keep track of this so if anyone else is having this issue, maybe there are enough names out there to add to the list where Huawei can take action.
As I have said before I have been with Android since day 1 and this is a new issue to me which is disheartening, but I guess this can happen from time to time as we all want a sturdier unit. This is by far one of the lowest priced Nexus for the hardware they provide and I guess I had hoped the quality would be a little bit better. In any case I do appreciate all the responses and I really hope no one has issues.
Still love the Nexus and would never go anywhere but to another Nexus :)

Have you looked into getting insurance from "Upsie"? It seems like you could get insurance from them and pay a deductible to get a replacement, if it came down to that. I would look into it, just in case.

I hear ya and I am the same way with my phones. I buy used phones to try them out for fun, usually only a couple months old and when they say mint or like new and I get it, once in my hands I many times think, wow this is mint?, looks like the previous owner didn't care. I have phones that I have used for a year that literally look like they just came out of the box. I am OCD about how take care of them, just one of my things.None the less, I still manage to do something now and then that causes some minor ding or scratch. I have never scratched or broken a screen on smart phone yet. And I have been owning cell phones all the way back to 1992. Yes, the brick phone haha.

With that said, I have never owned a Nexus. I buy I one generation back flagships and have always rooted and rom'd them and just never got to owning a Nexus. Roms are becoming a thing of the past now, since there are so many unlocked phones. So I want near stock, but a powerful device, and I am on the hunt for a good used 6P as that is a about the only phone that meets what I am looking for at the moment. I have been watching the 6P forum to see if there is anything I need to be concerned about when I buy used.

I have no doubt you got a defective phone, but I just also know (working in the tech field for IT) that metal doesn't bend itself. I have also been looking at hundreds of used 6P's. Among them are also damaged ones that people are selling for parts, none of them with this damage. Cracked screens, non working, broken buttons, you name it, but none like this. Possibly Huawei has taken all of these back, so that is why.

Your pictures are very good of the damage. I would be pretty mad if someone didn't do something to replace it. I had that happen with a brand new Samsung about 5 years ago.It just flat out stopped working, no damage. They said the one year warranty covered it, but wanted me to pay for everything, including for an inspection. Adding up to about $250 before they would send a new one. I was very mad and I haven't bought a Samsung product since.
