How's the in-screen FPR working with screen protector?

My S22 is horrible recognizing my fingerprint through a screen protector. Wondering if anyone is seeing any improvement on the S23 series...

Just don't use a glass screen protector and you should be fine. Any of the TPU screen protectors work just as well as the bare glass with the ultrasonic FP reader. I'm at the point now where I just know where to place my thumb on the screen and the phone just unlocks instantly, you don't need to wait for the little FP graphic to pop up. The only glass screen protectors that can work with the ultrasonic FP readers are the UV cured ones like the whitestone dome but those are grossly overpriced, risky to install, and semi-permanent which I personally am not comfortable using them on such an expensive phone.

If you are somehow still having issues with a TPU screen protector, train the same finger into multiple fingerprint slots and it will improve recognition.

I have a glass on my ultra and it works fine looking at the s23 plus I like a flat screen over the curved plus if I trade in my S22 ultra the s23 plus is free with T-Mobile.

How are they "risky" to install? Or semi permanent?

I've seen people ruin their phone screens with an improper installation of the WSD - that's all I meant by that. Lots of user reports on reddit with things gone wrong. YMMV of course.

I just buy the $10 3-packs of TPU screen protectors and they work great.

If you guys are having good luck with regular glass protectors and the FP reader that's awesome, maybe I should try them again.

Ruin their screen how exactly? I use the UV cure screen protectors, so that has me mildly concerned if it's accurate.

I used a WSD on my old S20+. And just put an Amfilm on my s23u. I fail to see how a guy would "ruin their phone screen" without wildly deviating from the instructions, like choosing to substitute a toaster oven for the UV cure light.

When I've used the WSD after the first curing with the Uv I always gently press down where the scanner is and then second cure.

This has always helped.

That said the successful rate wasn't 100% with sometimes finding it a better experience breathing on my thumb which I registered 3 time's !

I also found that the WSD for my Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra easily picked up nicks along the curved edge.

I haven't ever bumped the phone and it's carried in a lined vertical belt holster.

I've used x4 WSD since launch date of the phone.

So I recently purchased the official Samsung Tpu twin pack and boy what a breath of fresh air. Works 100% with the scanner and not plastic feeling to the touch at all.

Do you have a link to the official Samsung twin pack? I put the Amfilm glass one on as soon as I got it, and I'm not overly impressed overall.

Just got my S23 ultra and installed the white dome glass Screensaver, and fingerprint is working perfectly.

I'm using the amFilm glass screen protector and the fingerprint scanner works great. I highly recommend this one, it was the easiest installation ever and I've been using glass protectors for awhile.

Wow, just looked at this one via the link you sent. Watched the install video and that looks really easy and foolproof. I was concerned about ease of installation and whether the finger print scanner would struggle with it. But I may give this one a try. And it's much less expensive than some of the more popular options.

I've tried many different brands over the years and this one is my favorite. The cost is just a bonus, comes in a 2pack as well.

Question: is the screen protector curved on the edges or completely flat? I'm wondering if it covers some or all of the curved edges of the screen or if it just covers the flat portion. And if the latter is the case, do you feel the edge of the screen protector when you swipe from the sides? I keep my phone in a case do I may not feel the edge of the screen protector anyway but am just wondering. I think if I felt the sharp edge every time I swiped from the side it might become annoying. Thanks for your thoughts.

I just followed the link, and that one is for the S23 - not the S23 Ultra...

No issues with WSD protector works exactly like I set the fingerprint without it before installing.
