Hows the leaked 2.2 froyo working?

Hows the early leap to FROYO tasting on your EVO?

OK, so a few quick questions and Yes I have looked...
1. If I install the leaked update, will I need to do a full wipe?
2. If I am rooted, and install the update I will just lose root or will I have problems.
3. If i dont need to do a full wipe, after the update will all my current user information and apps still be there?

Thanks, I CAN NOT WAIT FOR FROYO!

No you don't have to do a full wipe. It is just an update. I installed it and everything is still set and customized like it was before.

I installed Froyo about 5:30pm pst yesterday and have been running it ever since. Overall speed is a lot faster. I thought the battery got worse yesterday after the update but after normal use today I am still at 80% with moderate use. I really like the voice dialing over bluetooth. Flash runs pretty good. I noticed it gets a little slow at times but overall pretty pleased.

One problem I have seen so far is that I have Fastreader installed and it launches by itself on launch. After killing it with auto task killer, it will continue to relaunch itself. I have tried killing it numerous times but it keeps coming back.

Works great for me so far using the leaked OTA update. As a tip for those who are having browser issues- do a reboot. I did this and it fixed all the browser crashes. And apps can only be moved to the SD if the programmer updated them to do so.

After reading this entire thread and being "in the thick of it" last night, I wanted to chime in.

Today I used my video camera and the playback using 720 was consistently choppy. Anyone else have this issue?

Everything else seems great and I would like to report BETTER battery life. My battery life is typically horrid. I am in a lousy signal in my house so I usually only get about 7 hours. Today I was at 37% after nine hours. I think novelty is the culprit for those of who think the battery is worse.

My phone only ran hot during and after the update, not at all since, and I never had any problems with my camera or flash. I also was on stock Rom with no tweaks at all.

Everything looks great and I anticipate being able to install Sprint's official version when it's released this week.

Is HTML email a part of the update?

Yeah after FINALLY taking the plunge last night (Took me 4 hours to finally say "Fcuk It" and go for it....)

Internet pages with Flash were "Choppy" at first but have since smoothed out... Not sure why but at first it was really choppy if there was a lot of flash.. Now the same pages are fine and run very smooth....

Mine was hot during the installation process like yours but since I have had no issue with the phone heating up.

Camera is greatly improved....Made a couple of short video's and they do seem to be slightly choppy........

720p was choppy on the last build at times too. When I noticed this it was low light conditions. Normal light it always looked great for me. I haven't tried the new one yet tho.

I can't believe how fast pages are loading! Not placebo either. I thought that our 3g speeds were just slow here until I downloaded Froyo. Pages loads are amazingly fast as is just about everything now!

Seems my Barcode Scanner app isnt working now. The camera works fine for pics and videos, but using this app, the area where the line is to align the barcode, is completely white and the outside of that is fuzzy

mine seemed very slow, so i went back to CM6. quadrant was in the 700's, after i went back to CM6 i am back in the 1300's

leaked version runs good, everything worked ..just waiting on a tweaked version b4 i go back to sense

uninstall and reinstall and see if that works. If not you can try shopsavvy it is working fine with 2.2

I tried that, then read the user comments on the app.. Guess im not the only 1 its happening to (with the white box dead center)...Seems like it DOES read the code, its just a pain to try to line up with the solid white box in the middle lol

Things ive noticed....
1. is for one i cant do the network battery saver trick anymore. When i go into the network app and then go to select radio band it force closes and kicks me out and doesnt let me change it. Not too sure if this was by design or what.
2. during a call...i get the notification sound from a text message in my ear...usually during a call the notification is silenced and it just shows up in the notification bar. Kind of annoying nothing to cry about....i just put my phone on silent during a call.
3. The battery life seemed to get a little bit worse. I'll have to do some test and use the phone a little bit more to actually make a solid statement on wether the battery life is better or worse. But just from using it a minute ago seemed like it was a little worse. Dont quote me on that tho....like i said before ill have to actually test it in everyday usage.

Any fix for this yet? Like you said, certainly not a deal-breaker... but it sure is annoying...

nah the only fix that ive been able to come up with is putting the phone on silent...cant find anything in the settings. Im sure its just one of those bugs that come along with manually installing something that isnt finished yet.

Another thing ive noticed is initially i thought the battery life was somewhat worse then what ive had before. When you update to 2.2 the sprint zone and gtalk revert back to their original settings. So you have to go back into sprint zone uncheck all the boxes and change the set update frequency to only at startup. Then with gtalk uncheck the automatically sign in box. Ofcourse my battery has been a lot better...imma do a test tonight and see how long it last with moderate use. My battery held up pretty good today at work without me doing those things. Went to work at 5am..its now 4:30 and im at %15.

Re: Bolded txt
Yeah thats pretty much what I was thinking... Guess we'll find out on the 3rd or perhaps in a quick bugfix update afterwards...

Re: Sprint zone/gtalk
I had forgotten about those completely. Like you my battery life has been semi close to the same as before (except when running beautiful widgets clock/weather widget. It eats my battery alive for some reason even with no GPS and updates set to 2hrs. Sucks because I really love the look of it :( )

yea....that and web browsing def eats up battery. Not sure if its because of flash 10.1 or what. But overall im pretty happy with it. Im sure the final build thats pushed out tuesday will fix or address the minor issues and if not an update will. Sprint and HTC have been pretty good so far with doing so.
