I have received an HP touchpad as a gift. The person installed Android 4.0.3 on it. I downloaded Kindle app but when I try to open it a registration screen opens up and when I have tried to register I get the message "Cant establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your android device may not be provisioned for data services." I can get on the internet using the world icon browser so it is just the log in part that is preventing getting on with the registration.

I next used my desktop to see if I could register the kindle app and found it apparently was already registered. So, I am not sure how this happened it seems to have correct information the name is correct and the type is Android.

Still when I try to open the kindle app on the touch pad I get the registration screen.

I would appreciate detailed instructions on how to get the kindle app working.

I don't know if this is your problem but in my experience the older cyanogenmod builds have had a lot of compatibility problems with certain apps. My recommendation would be updating to the latest nightly build and seeing if that fixes your problem.

Afaik you don't know how, so I'll give instructions here ;)

Before starting, download the latest nightly and gapps for CyanogenMod 9 and put them on your touchpad via usb or bluetooth (whatever works)

1. Boot clockworkmod from moboot (the menu at startup)
2. Make a backup
3. Click the option to wipe data/cache (this will totally clean your system off, so backup anything you need)
4. Wipe dalvik cache, I think it's in the advanced menu (don't quote me on that)
5. Click "Install zip from SD card" and browse to the nightly, click on it to flash
6. Click "Install zip from SD card" again and this time click on the gapps
7. Reboot your system (it will take a few seconds longer then a regular boot since it's setting up your new installation)

Then try your kindle stuff, now like I said I don't know if this is your problem, but even if it's not being up to date is good. The new builds use Android 4.0.4 which runs much smoother and they also have new Wi-Fi drivers that have many less problems with connectivity.
