HTC 10 Bluetooth Issue - Case suggestion?

Hello all,

So I've gotten the latest update from T-Mobile, and other have said that this has helped resolve some issues with the Bluetooth connectivity issues. I went through what I normally do when I use my bluetooth headphones, walked around my yard (where the issues were happening) and noticed that the connectivity issues occur when the phone is in my pocket. When I hold my phone in my hand it plays fine, but as soon as it goes into my pocket the sound is broken up so much that it almost sounds like it's paused. As soon as it leaves my pocket, back to normal. So does anybody have issues like this? If so I'll be looking into a way to at least make it usable by possibly getting an exercise band to put my phone in on my arm so bluetooth music may be possible, any suggestions on those types of cases?

Is anything else in your pockets, like a lot of coins or other metallic objects? Just wondering if those might be interfering with the signal.

Nope, just my phone. I have a clear TPU case on the phone, but I don't think that would cause such a severe issue.

I always have had drop outs while streaming music with the phone in my pocket, including all of my older HTC phones. I've gone back to wired earphones for my daily bike ride. I still have people telling me they can't hear me very well using my BT earphones for voice from time to time. This phone is better than my M8 and M9, but still have problems, using either my BlueAnt Q3 or Jawbone ERA....

I don't it's a case problem.....

Yeah I didn't think it was, although I feel like it's worse on the 10 than the 9, I could do things on my 9 while it was in my pocket with minor cutouts, but the 10 is near impossible to hear anything.

I can take my phone in another room and bluetooth still reaches my speaker, no problem. I've even had it 2 rooms away. Maybe your headphones have poor bluetooth reception?
Try putting your phone upside down in your pocket to see if it changes reception.

Like the OP I've had poor signal issues when pocketed Worse I've had with any phone. When outside the bluetooth range is acceptable, but not up to par with some other phones I've owned.

I have had Bluetooth connectivity issues as well but my issues seem related to the Bluetooth headphones and not the HTC 10. My old Jaybird wireless earbuds stay connected fine when in a Belkin armband case. The problem is when I run/jog the earbuds won't stay in my ears no matter what size cushions I try. Once I sweat they fall out constantly. I bought a pair of Urbanears Hellas (headphone opposed to earbuds) wireless headphones as the solution. Only problem is when I put my HTC 10 in the armband case the Hellas won't stay connected or breakup constantly. My solution now is to put my HTC 10 in a small belt/waist pack when I run. This isn't ideal as I still deal with a little bit of the music breaking up and now I can't access my phone while running to see my distance/time etc. unless I remove it from the belt pack. The Hellas work great if I hold the phone or use it on a treadmill but they aren't usable when in the Belkin armband case.

I haven't experienced any issues with having the phone in my pocket so I wonder if the issue lies with the wireless headphones or earbuds of the OP?

Fun thing about that though, I have some offline music on my Huawei watch, and the same pair of headphones connected via bluetooth to the watch, and over 3 hours I had maybe 2 interruptions. I have to believe it's the phone, again, granted my headphones are cheap, cant argue with results.

I have not had any problems with my Spigen Crystal Shell Case, even when placed in a cloth belt holdster. Now keep in mind I've only had the phone since after the first Maintenance Release (1.80.651.1). Generally, I always have an androidwear watch (Moto 360), HTC fetch and one of a couple active audio devices associated at a time. Are you still seeing issues with certain devices?

The Bluetooth just sucks on the 10. It constantly drops regardless of being in my pocket or not. And, it doesn't matter which device it's connected to. Some things never change with HTC.
