HTC 10 Owners: First Impressions, Initial Reviews Thread

Re: HTC 10 owners first impressions/review thread

Those who have the phone should toss on some polarized glasses and then look at the screen, while you're still in your return period.
Mine barely dims at all. Less then any of the other lcd's around me at the time. Guess it's a keeper.

Quick question for you guys. If you look at your top speaker grill, under the sensor, does it look like something is behind the top row grill? Like right under the sensor? Looks like it could be dust. Noticed it out of the box

I've tried on three different polarized sunglasses and have zero issue seeing the screen.

However, my screen dims and brightens on its own way too often. I even tried turning off the auto brightness feature, but I think it's worse!

Proximity sensor problems

I've had the phone now for a couple of days and, I'm sad to say, just requested a return authorization.

Don't they give you 30 days to return? I would have given it more of a chance. Unless you were afraid of breaking it or something and then being stuck with it I guess...

Can't tell if it's a component behind the grill or dust. If it is dust, what should I do to try to get the dust out? Can of air? Vacuum?

So I am coming from a HTC A9 and thought the 10 would be a great upgrade.
I had both of the phones setup exactly the same way and side by side I tested them
opening apps and doing stuff I would normally do day to day. I also compared pictures
taken from the camera. My conclusion was that the A9 is 90% as fast in day to day
stuff as the 10 is. Also the screen on the A9 looks better IMO. As much as I like the 10
I don't think the 10% difference is worth $650.
I have initiated the return process and will keep the A9 until the new Nexus comes out.
This bums me out because I was waiting eagerly for the 10!

Under the whole width of the grill? I looked at mine and while my eyesight isn't the best up close I couldn't see anything. As for air I would not blow in with canned air. Vacuum probably wont generate enough air movement.

Agree the A9 has great performance and the screen is probably superior. However, the 10 wins on sound and destroys the A9 in battery life.

Not the whole grill. It's like the upper row, and it's maybe less than half of the whole grill

I agree on the battery life although the snapdragon 617 uses less power but yea the 10 does have better battery life.
As far as the sound I only use Bluetooth headphones and both sounded very similar which is to say very good. I'm
sure if I actually plugged something in the headphone jack then I'd notice but I always use Bluetooth.

Ok, so just to be weird, I used the flashlight on my oldphone to peer into the grill of my new phone. I saw some things that looked like clumps of dust. They went away of a good blowing.

Looking into the grill about a third from the right I see something behind the grill. So about a third from the right and then move back to the right about 2 to 3 mm is somthing that occupies top to bottom and is a slightly different color. I tried to take pictures with the phone and wifes iPhone. Nothing showed up... :-\

So it's not just me?!! I mean it's not a big issue, it's just something I notice every time I look at the phone. It looks like some component behind the grill. I tried to take a photo with my m8 but its a very hard shot to get. Thank you for taking the time to look and reply, I appreciate it.

Also battery on this phone is amazing. I stopped charging my phone at 9am 100%, and its 10pm and I'm at 57% . Been using my phone pretty heavily today, browsing web, YouTube, music in the car. To be fair I have used power saver off/on throughout the day today. On the m8 I had power saver on 24/7. This phone is just amazing

The fast charge causes the battery to drain faster
