HTC audiophile lovers are you excited?

Trust me, you will be impressed with its music prowess. TBH I'm probably going to keep the 10 along with my Nexus as now both of them have features that I can't do without. But, I don't need to two phones, so this definitely will be survival of the fittest. I will eventually choose one to keep and one to either return or sell and it will still boil down to which one I reach for most often.

thanks for these comments... typically, i listen to music using wires using a bose qc25 or from tomorrow on, also using bluetooth after a pair of v-moda crossfade wireless arrives, and it's great to know that in those areas the 10 shines...

If you really want to hear the qualities the 10 (or any quality audio device) offers, ditch the wireless if possible. The 10 does have quality Bluetooth but you're still relying on the other device's converters instead of the great one in the 10.

yes, no doubt about it... however, according to multiple reviews, the music transfer over BT in those particular headphones is outstanding, which is impressive because you would expect to have good quality but not as good as using wires (and the reviews say that it is very close)... i will test and form my own opinion...

I did some intensive listening to classical music this evening using high-quality earbuds, and I have to say I'm blown away by the audio quality. When you can hear the breath of the flute soloist and the resonance of the strings, I'm hooked. Now I'm curious about the hi-res earphones they've made such a fuss about.

I think Bluetooth is great for those who must be wire-free or who don't mind the compromise. The strikes against Bluetooth devices in this case is that they have to overcome not only Bluetooth limitations (haven't seen specs on what the 10 is transferring at), but the converters and amp since the 10 is great in that area. When using good equipment, wired beats Bluetooth (dollar for dollar) no doubt. But, if the convenience is worth it for you then that's all that matters and I hope they work out great for you.
The 10 sounds better through wire on my Sony than it does via Bluetooth but if I'm working out I'll still run it through Bluetooth for the convenience of not having to have my phone tied to my speaker. In cases like that it's very much worth going Bluetooth.

Interesting that you mention classical. :) Though I only listen to classical every so often, I decided to give Verdi's Requiem (2001 version w/ Andrea Bocelli) a spin on the 10. That piece is, for me, the most stirring composition I've ever known and I would normally not do it the injustice of listening through headphones, especially not through a smartphone. It deserves to be heard in a proper listening room. However, the 10's sense of spaciouness and ability to bring out low-level detail really did the symphony justice. It does equally well on Ennio Morricone soundtracks and anything that requires a strong sense of front-to-back depth.

On the other hand, it can grind crude 90's hip-hop like Wu-Tang and Gheto Boys, capturing the rawness without fatiguing the ear. Same with biting guitar tracks like Bon Scott-era AC/DC. Though I listened to music on my M8 and it was decent, I never got off on the audio quality of recordings and never bothered pulling out my high-end headphones. The 10 truly has be excited about listening to music again and I don't have to plant myself in my studio chair in order to hear a glorious recording.

I agree, you can get some great results over Bluetooth, but soft passages will reveal compression "hiss" and other artifical artefacts that aren't particularly pleasing. If you're ridiculously picky like me, wire is the way to go.
