HTC Design 4G and Motorola Photon: same price at BB

So my question (because STILL there are no comparisons I can find on the web) is purely opinion searching, I know, but...

For the current price of $99 at Best Buy for both phones, which would seem to be the better choice?

-Who is SPECULATED to receive ICS first (knowing about motorola's dealings w/google, but also that ICS wasn't designed around the Tegra 2 processor).

-I haven't used Sense 3.0, but briefly used a Photon for a month before returning it, because I didn't trust the "mute" and "power-off" issues would be fully resolved. Is Sense that much better a stock overlay than Custom UI?

-Reception/radios etc? A thread on here mentions loss of signal when held a certain way, akin to the iPhone last year.

-Ability to sell phone in a year, or more if a closer idea of "my right phone" releases?

I THINK I prefer the 4", vs larger screens, but the Design isn't THAT much smaller than the Photon when layed on top (not sure why it needed to be as thick with only a single core).

If someone has seen a review comparing these phones (purely because of the pricepoint at BB), I'd love to see it.

Thanks

I bought the Photon two days ago and hated it. The Motorola apps suck, the lay out of the phone sucks. It doesn't compare AT ALL to anything HTC has made. I went back to BB the next day and returned it (for the same price as you stated LOL) and traded it out for the EVO Design. I friggin LOVE this phone.Especially when I came from an EVO Shift. I love the speed, the look, feel, apps. It's an HTC phone on steroids.Just an amazing phone. I also (by accident) found that this is the most current phone on the market that Sprint carried that sync perfectly with My Ford Sync. The other issues before with Sprint phones being that it was "unrecognizable " with the MS Sync in Ford. Bluetooth audio works great as well as SMS texting. Just fantastic. Thank you Sprint,(it's about friggin time)

Well I cannot speak for the Photon, but I will speak for the Evo 3d. I returned my Evo Design because of all my gripes with it. I picked up the 3d. In my experience the 3d is worth the extra 100 dollars. The size is great (no need for a case it is built like a tank), performance is excellent and battery life appears to be good. I didn't think I could do a 4.3 inch screen but this phone looks and feels great in my hand. I highly recommend the switch.

And by the way the 3d's signal appears to not fluctuate as much and does not suffer from any attenuation.

Could you spell out your gripes specifically? As a thread where a user is trying to decide between two phones, I believe these to be relevant.

I got my EVO a month after it came out. I had it configured just as I wanted it and was loving the phone when I ran it over with my car. I replaced it with a used EVO and the thrill is gone as they say.

What really put me over the edge is a recent trip to Baja for the Baja 1000. The ability to pop in a local sim card and get adequate phone and data coverage was severely missed. I could only use my CDMA sprint phone in the big city. Given my plan with sprint, the only two truly powerful android smart phones
available are the Design and the MoPho.

I picked up the MoPho in the store to play with it and put it down within 3 minutes. The screen performance is just woefully inadequate. As it is refreshing due to a move, zoom, etc., I could see a hatch pattern in the screen. It appeared to go away after a few seconds. That was not fast enough for me. Also, when I would look closely, I felt like I could still see some pattern in the background when there should not have been. The Design's display showed no such problem. The screen looked sharper and with a better dynamic range.

So I'm left with the Design. The HW on the Photon should blow the Design out of the water. I just can't get past the screen.

As may people would, I would love EVO 3D HW without the 3D screen and cameras. With GSM capability though.
