HTC Desire usually restarts after more than 50 mb used :( what the problem?

After a factory reset the phone is fully functional, after approximately 50mb is used, the phone starts to randomly cut out during usage, sometimes right after booting up and sometimes after the phone has been turned on and used for a period of time, appears to be no pattern in cutting out

That's weird. I've never heard of that one. I'd suggest checking in the HTC Desire forum to see if anyone else has had this problem.
