Hello All,

I am currently running a Palm Pre- and after the recent HP debacle will be leaving WebOS to Android.

I am with UK Vodafone and am due a free upgrade, but there is nothing out at the moment that I like\want\need.

A slider keyboard is a must and the HTC Desire Z looks the ticket.. I don't want to get the phone on contract and be locked into a 24 or 18 month deal, as the phone is quite old and there maybe similar sliders in the near future with more updated hardware..

Can any Desire Z users, give me an honest appraisal of the phone including keyboard.

Whats the battery life like?

Can it run Gingerbread and in the future Ice cream?

Is the phone fast enough.

Do i need a screen protector.

Sorry for the random questions and thanks for any help guys.

Cheers

I was in the same boat with the palm pre2 and went with the Desire Z and love t

- Like the wider keyboard
- Battery life is good, but still tuning it, I always pick up an extended battery
- I skin my phones as well, just to keep them in good shape and it did not impact using touch

What skin do you use m8?

Don't need a physical keyboard anymore, especially with swiftkey x. So now running a HTC Incredible S and love it :)

Cracking phone...solid ..no keyboard issues after at least 4 yrs
Battery life not brilliant if using internet or playing games

Probably fairly slow compared to new stuff..fine for me though
Would like to root but doesnt seem as straightforward compared to some
