some one needs to get a picture of the evo and droid x on a web page because it doesn't look like the screen is bigger to me it looks like the pics are taken on an angle to make the droid screen look bigger and the black trim plus black quicklaunch buttons make it harder to determine where the screen ends and trim begins and plus like someone said .1 of an inch is nothing but the phone is much larger

I will give a few things to the droid x and that is it has physical keys instead of touch sensitive keys a physical camera button and bigger screen. and yea it doesnt have a front facing camera or 4G and it has moto blur which i do not like what so ever.

1. somebody else said it best - the Droid X looks like a remote control mated with an 80's camera.

2. i love HTC Sense and i am not a fan of anything Motoblur.

3. i love HTC design and build quality and innovation.

I have the Evo and the only reason I would switch is because Verizon's coverage is better where I live. Sprint coverage in my home is mediocre at best, but I want to keep my Evo, so I may look into the Airrave unless someone's got other suggestions.

The EVO has a kickstand and front facing camera. The EVO is future proof. i feel if your going to make a big phone....please include a kick stand. EVO>X

where do you live? don't you get good reception up there on Walton's Mountain?

The one thing that's swaying be toward the X is the speed. It seems to really fly in comparison to the EVO.

come on. the EVO is so fast i don't think i could even tell if anything is faster. and if it was - by any appreciable amount? and what about battery impact?

the EVO's INSTANT response is fast enough for me!

i wonder if SENSE is a factor though at least in terms of perception.

I have a friend on Verizon who is about to buy her first smart phone and is going to get an Incredible and wanted the original Moto Droid when it came out cause it was the best phone Verizon had. I sent her the link to the phone and said she'll pass and get the Incredible because shes not big on Moto or how the phone looks.

Screen size isnt part of her judgement because she loves the Evo but is happy with Verizon.

I personally havent liked Moto phones since the 1st Razr and still not a phone of the design of Moto smart phones. I wont take anything away from the phone and it looks like it will be another hit for those on Verizon that wanted a Evo (for the size or anything minus 4g) but didnt want to switch to Sprint.

I have no interest in Verizon or Moto so it would be the Evo for me.

HTC Evo v. Droid X

So the Droid X looks pretty promising.

The Screen has higher resolution than Evo, and the build quality seems a bit better from what I can see.

The one thing that truly bothers me is the processor. I think Qualcomm sucks at making good processors, but if what I hear is right, the Droid X is going to use a 1Ghz TI OMAP processor. Obviously, that processor is miles ahead of the Qualcomm processor on the Evo. This makes me very jealous.

What do you think? Is the Evo still the better device? Or does the pedestal for best Android phone get taken over by Motorola just a mere month after the Evo's release?

then why aren't you worried about the galaxy s? that processor is 3x better at gaming than the Evo's.

I would have to agree, the X looks really fast in the demo i've seen it in but the looks of it, especially the back is kinda ugly. What to do, what to choose...

Gekko, stop by a Verizon store sometime and flip through the screens on the Incredible. It's inarguably faster, even though the EVO and the Incredible are essentially the same phone.

Also, the person in the Engadget video said herself that the X seemed faster in comparison.

Now I am NOT saying the EVO is slow, but I am saying it is not performing at it's full potential based on my side by side comparisons of each. I own both phone's and the difference is obvious.

Unfortunately for me, even though I got an Evo on launch and am a new Sprint customer, service is very hit and miss in my house and apparently Airrave is not available in my area. Vz does get 3G in my house, so if I went with Vz, I could ditch my Vonage, but holy **** I love my Evo...

Everyone is making the 4G claim, too bad like 85% of the country can't even use it yet.

HTC should give you the option to turn off sense completely.

Totally screw's up emulator gaming since it blocks wiimote controller applications.

I'll wait until someone figures out how to put vanilla android on the Evo or until another 4.3' monster with kickstand comes out that has it...

If I was on Verizon overpriced plans I would get the Moto Droid or wait for the version with the keypad. Two things the Droid has over the EVO is a 24bit screen and games will run smooth on it.Games lag on EVO.

I don't think you read. It's not available here. I talked to two different "techs" to confirm that I'm too far away from their closest tower.

Thanks though.
