Hey, got my freedompop phone like many others the past few weeks.

Any experiments or tips and advices to mod/improve the device let me know.

This is my 2nd android phone in 5 years and I have been enjoying the experience. A lot of customizations looks like and while dl'ing them, the device was slowing down. Testing out launchers was pretty cool. There is also a post on xda for 4.1.1, but not very great insight on the experience from the user, if someone can give pros and cons to it vs ics that'll be great.

I also got the Freedom Pop phone recently.

I do spend time in the states but I spend most of my time in Canada.

When I read about the Evo Design 4G I read that you could pop in a foreign SIM and it would just work.

I crossed into Canada but when I try to change the preferred network from CDMA mode to global mode it gives me a warning and sets the network back to CDMA.

Is there a way that I can enable the global network mode? Seems like a setting in the custom ROM the Freedom Pop phone ships with is blocking that ability.

Jelly bean Rom is ok.
Pros- Seems to be less of a battery hog than ics. Has google now. Seems more smoother and fluid.

Cons- When you talk to someone and your screen turns off bcuz the sensor detects your ear is to the phone, you can't hear them anymore and you sometimes hear digital.static. only when you get the phone away from your.ear so the screen stays on you can than hear what caller is saying. Also, WiMAX 4g is not accessable and.no more WiFi teather app.

I just bought an Evo Design 4G, I have the MSL code from Sprint. How the heck do I use it? Sprint keeps giving me bs about not being able to unlock the phone, although one of their tech support folks told me that all I needed was the MSL, and they would promptly release it from the network. I want to activate it through Freedom Pop, but their sign up page keeps telling me that my phone is not supported. I just spent 3 hours solid trying to get someone on the line through their customer service. I have been trying to sign up for 6 weeks now! How do I unlock the phone from Sprint's network? Do I have to buy a new SIM?

I now have three of the freedompop HTC EVO 4g phones. One for me, one for my wife, and one for my father-in-law.

One of the phones works perfect--connects to 4g quickly, and the connection is nice.

The other two do not connect to 4g, but otherwise work fine. They connect to 3g just fine. The 4g settings page shows the phones continually looping from scanning networks, connecting to sprint, obtaining IP address and then disconnecting before quickly scanning again. They never obtain an IP address.

Any ideas on what this means? Are the two phones bad in some way? I'm thinking about returning the two unless I can find any info on how to make them work...

Thanks.

Go here, the answer is probably there I think. Or you will get a faster response. https://forums.freedompop.com/discussions

I've been in "BlackBerry Jail" for the past 10 years, please be kind.

How do I send a text to more than one person on this phone? Home screen > Messaging > Compose+ > (cursor on "To") > (select a name) > OK > (cursor on "Type to compose").

Seems like if I do anything else at this point, the originally selected name gets wiped out.
