HTC Evo V 4G and Evo Design 4G hands-on photos

So so we know yet where this will all be sold? Looks like I'm going to come up with the $300 after all. Hoping to score it at a Radio Shack or Best Buy in town instead of ordering online.

Well considering i am old enough to have a son that mows my lawn you assumed my age incorrectly . My fixed income definitely dictates what i can and cannot spend . But thank you for the answer Leslie. I guess I will probably stay on the ov then. No sense in losing my account and I cannot upgrade and pay more monthly. BOOOOOO.

On the OV, Target got the first ones, Radio Shack got the Triumph first, Walmart got the Elite first.

Who gets the V first is anyone's game, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it being Best Buy.

Thanks Leslie, that's good to know. Yeah, it would be nice to be able to pick it up the day it comes out! :)

I just wish they had a pre-order thing, as soon as this comes out I'll have 3 of VM's phones ^^ lol.

Forget that, I'm aiming for the 23rd.
Some people had the OV a week and half before release, I had mine about week early.

Stores often have it over a week in advance of going on shelves. Target here usually gets shipments on Tuesday and sometimes Thursday (found that out with the OV), so I figure the wed. before (the23rd), I will start calling around. You will probably need the internal stock number though so they can check inventory rather than just looking on the shelf.

I'm hoping to have the numbers for various stores by then. If I have the numbers, I'll start calling around this Friday.

3?
I have a total of 6 or 7, but I have been with them as many years.

Haha, actually, when I got the Evo 4g, I almost got the 3d, but it was too costly for the risk in case it didn't work. I had set myself an acceptable limit to risk on doing it, and the 3d was outside of that range.

I'm also impatient.

You misunderstand, I have an Evo 4g converted to run on Virgin Mobile.
At the time, I got my Evo 4g, I was able to get the Evo 4G in good condition for $100, the 3d was still selling for $250+.

Keep in mind, I was going to hack the memory and convert the phone to Virgin, a risky, time consuming process. If I messed up, or was unable to convert it, it meant having a worthless phone. I could handle risking $100 or so on the endeavor, but $250 was a bit hard to swallow if things went downhill and either couldn't make it work, or bricked the phone. I thought I ruined it more than once, and almost threw in the towel a few times.

The Evo V has no risk like that, it will work out of the box. I don't mind spending an extra $100 when I know it is worth it and has little risk. In fact, if it's not much more, I highly recommend people get what they want, rather than settle for lower end stuff. Why? Because a lot of the time, especially with electronics, you may regret not getting what you wanted, but also, you often get what you pay for.

By the way, my Evo V screen protectors came in today. :p
Yes, I'm that committed (or maybe I should be committed?). ;)

I have one question, wondering if you guys help with it:

Will 4G improve reception?

Right now with the LG Optimus V I have horrible reception at home, I have to be right along the window to get a sketchy single bar and most of the time no service at all. However, if I leave home the reception is excellent. I've tried changing PRL codes and tech support at Virgin without any resolution. I'm even considering leaving Virgin Mobile because of this, but if the new HTC EVO V 4G will give me better reception with 4G then I'm definitely going to stay with Virgin Mobile.

The Evo 4g may get better reception, but you probably won't get 4g if you barely get 3g.

You may want to ask your neighbors what they use and how data is there. Sounds like you may be in a bad area for Sprint.

Root another thing to consider is what kind of structure is you home? I live in a modular home that was built in the 70s. I had decent reception but certain parts of the house seemed to create issues. Also cement block building like some apartment and business building hamper signal because of all the steel they use to strengthen the building.

ICS with Sense 3.6, however the devs using the VM rom already added Sense 4.0.
They basically used the VM rom to fix hardware issues they were having on their earlier ICS/Sense roms.

Oh nice can't wait!! Go dev's!! Life was going by pretty fast before the announcement but waiting on boost and vm to release their new 4g handsets has brought time here to a near standstill.. Dam..

Nice, I may weep when it's time to retire my OV. It'll make a good fake Ipod Touch xDD.
