htc evo v 4g....rooting and jellybean help

Okay, am using google for terminology not sure about. #1, "make a nandroid" is a making a backup right?? I installed Titanium backup yesterday and did a full back up. I also did the system, data, Wi-Fi etc with TWRP.

s-off help:

I'm ready to pull my last hairs out with this wire trick procedure. I get this result, after its says "success, success," then give one more try. I am using paper clip also. I also did the "newbie's guide" with the stock rom "odex" version. Here's what it says:

Checking alcohol level......
Let's take one more......
S-OFF Failed
Errorcode: 66732337
ErrorMsg: Still sober
Quit....
Press ENTER to exit.....

So am I bricked now, I pulled battery for over a minute, but just reboots to control bear and green arrow on the screen. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Your best bet is to ask for help on their forum

I thought of that, and went on their site. They have post on main page about no support for windows folk. Folks posting or trolling about 64 bit windows:

Team Unlimited has decided to drop all support for the Windows OS. This is due to massive amounts of trolling on forums and in our support channel as well as flaming us for our decision to not support Windows 8 or any version of Windows 64bit.

We attempted to explain to anyone who had questions why this was not supported - drivers are unreliable, percentage of risk for bricking was too high, and just general complications - but we were greeted with people who demanded support and others that came into our support # to tell us that "clearly we didn't test 64bit because it works" and "wanted to let us know that we could support 64bit."

We want to make it clear that we make and support these tools with our free time, for free, for you - our users. We made a decision to provide clear and concise directions and a live support channel. We can revoke all or part of this at any time and will should people become abusive to our team members.

I did google search and if you open cmd and put in "ControlBear -r. It does a Step 1...2..3 and reboots phone back to os. So let me ask this, they state in instructions to use stock rom. But read a post earlier about dude have Harmonia flashed and it worked for him. I'm not sure if this is considered a stock rom or not. Worth a try???

I know harmonia works, I used it.

I know they now recommend stock unrooted

Its up to you, I thought you already had s off

11 hours later. I cut one of my old Monster cable home theater cables down to the nubbin's and it got caught in this "device found and fastboot" detected loop. Wiggled the wire around and presto. Shows s-off and Juopuno Bear with Hboot 157.5757. So now I flash Harmonia right and do I still change the hboot with that pg86 file???

I flashed harmonia 3.17 and did all the wipes shown in the thread. It now boots in the white htc screen and just hangs there. Guide said it would take about 6-7 minutes to install. Anyway to get into my twrp program. I tried the power button, with lower button combo. But still just goes into the htc white screen. Just when thought had this thing figured out.

Glad to.hear you're s off

On harmonia:
Did you flash then wipe? That's backwards

Pull battery
Reinstall
Hold vol down and press power
That should bring you to bootloader
Select recovery
Wipe all partitions except for your sd card
Flash harmonia
Reboot

I will keep trying of course, but must be in fastboot cause holding down volume and power it still just goes to htc white screen and stayed there all night. Google and youtube call it a soft brick or boot loop I guess. Suppose to find solace in that powers to that point vs the hard brick you get nothing.

Today hope to find some way what you described or flashing recovery img's to get back to bootloader. Spent all most 18 hours on this thing yesterday:mad:

any way to get into bootloader with something like the sdk-tools software or other software, since not letting me in with the volume down/power button combo?? If backups and recovers don't work from command prompt, could I flash a stock rom and start over maybe?? To get out of this boot-loop issue.

Idk how you are going to flash anything if you can't get to bootloader

It sounds like you flashed harmonia and then wiped it....so you don't have a Rom installed.....that would explain the white HTC screen

Try taking your sd card out and put batt back in and hold vol down and power

If that works, then plug it in to pc and without powering down remove batt, insert sd and put batt back in....then select recovery

Ya, tried that without sd card in and also different 2g sd card. From the 8gb that came with my evo. Still get the white htc screen. I recall some "wiping" procedures from the TWRP program. But didn't realize was wiping my OS. Thought was just flashing this Harmonia rom. Guess this is the down side to S-off huh. No security for idiot newb like me. Hence now it's a evo brick.:(

With the power off , you are holding vol down then power right

I don't think you could have wiped your bootloader....I think that's near impossible

Try leaving the battery out for an hour, then try again

I will try that again. It's been out since 6am (pacific time, here in wa) and will continue to try. I want to thank you for helping this newb. I'm sure some procedure or trick's out there, after wiping the os. Cross my fingers...........

I saw you post on phandroid...that's where you should follow up, there's a ton of knowledgeable folks there

I'm sure u will figure it out

Ya, thru out to a couple sites. I built my own gaming pc last year and Tom's Hardware really made it easy. From the ground up, case/motherboard. It went so easy, all games run in 1080p. So made the stupid mistake of rooting my android, would be easy too. NOT............................

okay adamhos, I was trying adb reboot loader from htc white screen. So I pulled battery and plugged into pc. It shows red light at top and tried adb reboot bootloader and got in. Choose recovery and goes into TWRP 2.4. But don't see any files in restore button. What should be next step to try. I don't want to get stuck again at white screen/htc.

Wipe all but sd card
Install from sd
Find harmonia
Flash
Reboot
