HTC Extended Battery losing charge?

Hi there, new to the forums. I've had the extended battery for almost a month now. I've read multiple threads regards to the battery not being "fully" charged at 100%. My concern is usually when my battery reaches below 50% and I either restart my phone or pull the battery out and put it back in. For example, if my charge is at 40% and I restart my phone or do a hard reset or pull the battery out and restart, my battery widget shows my phone down to 20%. Did I really just lose 20% charge by doing that? Or was my battery widget just not showing the proper % left? I've tried multiple battery widgets and for some reason and sometimes I was able to reproduce the same result. Any ideas what is going?

Mine does that too. I think it's a faulty battery life indicator personally.
