HTC Inspire with Grandfathered Unlimited Data?

Alot of store reps dont know what they are talking about, i got lucky when i went to AT&T i got the inspire 50% off and they let me keep my unlimited. so far so good lets just hope something doesn't happen

You can keep your unlimited data as long as you dont get the tethering package, If you get the tethering package you will have to change to the 5 GB data plan and loose your unlimited.

I just picked up an HTC Inspire 4G phobe from AT&T and I was able to keep my unlimited data plan with no problem. I was coming from an iPhone 4 btw.

They made me upgrade. The internet would not work. Then they found out the old plan was the problem. I came from a BB.

You won't be talking to anyone tomorrow. You'll be talking to them Monday. They are closed Sundays.

Same thing they told me............... But my internet would not work then they changed my plan to the new plan and it started working. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what phone support told me, not the store.

They're wrong. I came from a BB and they couldn't get the computer to let me keep my unlimited so the rep called someone. He gave me a case number and told me it would be fixed on the 17th. Got a text on the 16th stating they had fixed it. I checked my account and I couldn't decipher what it all meant so i went to the store and had them look it up. I'm back on my unlimited plan.

Same here. Picked it up yesterday. The store had to put in the 2G data plan, but he had already talked to support, given me the case number and promised the unlimited plan would be reinstalled by the 8th. It was on by the time I got home last night. No worries!

No problem here. For anyone that is worried, I would go to AT&T's website and print out a copy of their Data plan policy where it shows it states that those who had Unlimited Data can transfer it over even after an upgrade. Take that with you and show it to them if they hassle you!

They told me in the store that it was no problem keeping an unlimited plan, but it somehow disappeared after a few days. So make sure you go online after a few days to double check. Then call and escalate your case to a supervisor immediately. I had to threaten to return my Inspire and migrate to Verizon.

p.s. I also came from a BB.

I just left my iPhone and went with the inspire. My unlimited data was all granfathered in, same as I had on my iPhone.

ATTENTION!!!!!!!!
You DONT have to give up your unlimited plan. I work for an at&t retailer and if anyone tells you you have to switch they are WRONG!! Call 611 and tell them the rep messed up and they should see you had an unlimited data plan before and should be able to switch you to the appropriate SOC code.
Your old soc code should've been:
Iphone = IPN1
BB = BI1A, BIA1, BPX1, BP2B (200 text)
PDA = DPPB, DPX1, DPBB

the new soc for the inspire will be HSDPPB which is to make 4G devices work. just ask for it ONLY if you had one of the above soc codes from your previous unlimited data plan. There are some reps out there that are making this whole experiance very difficult and confusing and it's making at&t look bad when really it's each rep that is not reading all the new info that is posted on our internal system that explains all this.

Sorry if you guys have had any experiance like this and feel free to Email me with any at&t questions like this. RR1980@att.net or PM me on here but the email will probably reach me quicker.

The store rep told me it wouldn't be a problem and I could keep my unlimited plan, but when I checked my account online, sure enough I was set with the 2GB data plan. A simple phone call this morning with a very friendly and helpful ATT customer service rep fixed it with zero hassle (I only told her what happened, and she apologized and said I should definitely be able to keep the unlimited plan) and just a bit of time lost (while I waited for her to get all the information, talk with a manager, and process the switch). If a store rep tells you that you can't, just speak with someone else or call up customer service.

I switched from iPhone 4 to Inspire and they told me I'm loosing my unlimited plan. Looks like it might be time to call AT&T and see if I can get it to remain unlimited.

I work for at&T (for real) and regardless of what they tell you...you can keep your unlimited as long as it is a smartphone you are moving from iphone to BB to android etc....Now they do have the right to pull your unlimited data if they so choose at any point, but its not good customer service...so if you had an unlimited plan and they took it off when you changed phone call customer service and DEMAND it back....I do think there is a limit to how many days since that change was made though...idk if its 30 or 60...

I had "family unlimited" on my unlocked Fuze before getting the Inspire. Technically that was not for smartphones. Do you think I can get unlimited on my Inspire based on that?

Probably not. you had to have a smartphone (BB, Android, iPhone, Windows) with a unlimited plan on that line. Unfortunately the Family unlimited data is more than likely not eligible.

As long as you don't change your data plan or get rid of it all together you wont lose it. If you change for any reason you will. I have also heard that if one line has unlimited data on it and another line is upgraded to an iPhone or Smart phone of any kind it is also eligible for Unlimited. I cannot confirm, but if anyone is in that position I would suggest asking.

I can confirm that is incorrect. It doesnt matter if 4 of your 5 lines have an unlmited data plan, if you add a data plan to your account that didnt previously have one. You will get the 2 gigs. Unless you had it before, you wont get it. (unless you use the trick I posted).
