Hey!

Recently bought the M8 and been having some issues with the HTC Gallery app.

1st: Snapchat pictures i take and decide to save end up in the Snapchat folder, but also creates a duplicate picture in another folder called "Pictures".

2nd: Automatic highlighting of photos, which make its own folder aswell.

I have tried to google/search around for some fixes and/or help to these issues.
Mostly people say "hide the folders" which is not an acceptable fix as the pictures will just waste space on the phone.

Anyone experiencing the same problems or know what i can do? All help is greatly appriciated. :)

Look through the Snapchat settings and see if there is anything to disable related to the saving of photos in duplication locations. Also, does this also happen if you are using another, third-party gallery app such as Quicpic or Google's Photos App?

There are two things you can do, either hide the albums you don't want to see, or use the ( .nomedia ) approach so that apps photos doesn't show on the Gallery.

How to hide albums:-
Open the Gallery, go to its Settings (3 vertical dots, top right corner) Choose the option [Show/hide albums] now remove the ticks from the albums you don't want to see and Save.

How to use ( .nomedia ):-
There is a way to make the Gallery unable to detect apps photos, you will have to use a third party file manager like ( ES File Explorer )

Use ES File Explorer to browse for the app folder, search for the folder that contains the photos in question, inside that folder create a file and name it ( .nomedia ) without the brackets of course, after that Gallery should no longer show any photos from that folder.

Thanks for the reply/answers:) I cant seem to find any options related to making duplicate images. This is not happening on my Samsung phone or iphone. The .nomedia fix dont really fix the issue, neither does hiding the albums. The issue is duplicate images is being made and i dont want to have a hidden folder full of pictures taking up space on the phone. Im at a loss here, I really like this phone, but **** like this is beyond annoying :/
