I know there are countless threads on this. Believe me, I did all the solutions. Tried toothpaste and brasso as well as trying to scrape it off with a credit card. It won't clear up. Only half the lenses is clear the other feels horrible and the blur it causes makes the camera useless.

I think I'll go with LG next phone. Until then, I can't seem to find anymore Google solutions.

Well, this persistent film residue appeared on phone. I used a a tip and toothpaste /brasso to remove it. No luck, so I tried alcohol to the scene at 91% and it's still there. Used fingernails and credit card edge to remove it.

I'm in the same boat as the op - when I had the M8 it drove me insane how scratched the lens was, so much so I swapped it for a Note 3 at the time. I tried everything and if anything it made it worse - I developed new scratches while trying to remove it.

Toothpaste or nail polish remover on a qtip is all you need to remove it, albeit you need to rib firmly, not gently. If you have worked it like you said you have it's also likely that residue has been replaced with real scratches from your effort. I have one nice scratch on my lens from my removal process, thankfully it isn't affecting image quality in my case.

You guys recommending toothpaste and alcohol are crazy.

Lots of tooth paste has pumice in it.
Alcohol will remove the anti-glare coating on the lens.
Don't do any of that stuff.

Mild soap and a lens cloth or something you get from your eye doctor is best.

Don't really know where people are getting the toothpaste idea from. I tried that and it made the issue worse; don't do it. I used a lens cleaning wipe and scraped off the film on the lens. My lens is spotless now.

Congregations. You've scraped off the anti glare coating on your lens. Welcome to the world of flare and glare.

This is why we can't have nice things.

After trying the toothpaste idea, I received numerous scratches on my lens, leading me to contact the head of the company and obtaining a new device. This can be avoided my using a less abrasive alternative, such as your finger and a lens wipe.

If that's the case, it wasn't doing any good to begin with. Lens flare/flare has been one of the M8's pitfalls right out of the box.

While that maybe true, with the scratches that I had on my lens, I wasn't able to take a decent pic to save my life (figure of speech). I used the Magic Eraser method and I was able to completely remove all the scratches,........and probably the anti glare coating :p. My pictures are now very clear. I haven't noticed any glare while taking photos with sunlight, street lights or emergency vehicle lights (taking pics of a vehicle accident...no one hurt :) ) I turned out well for me. But for others,YMMV.

I got a magic eraser. How much pressure do you guys use? How long?

I'm worried if I exchange it I'll have the same issue.
