htc M8 to Note 4

I agree marvin. My note 2 took such abuse. Switched roms daily so whoever said the hardware fails, you did something wrong. I played graphic intensive games all day every day to the point the phone would get hot. Never broke or stopped working. Pre-ordered the Note 4 and can't wait to get it. That thing has premium build quality. Go look at it in the store before making a judgement call. It's easily as premium as the iPhone 6 and has features of a phone from 2014, not 2012 like the iPhone. I used to hate touch wiz too. They made it fly on the Note 4

Poor quality build on a Samsung... I use a Note2 and it rocks in every way. I have dropped it on concrete a hundred times so far and haven't broken the screen yet... Hear that iPhone users??? As far as headphones go i use bluetooth headset with touch controls for volume, call answer. And not once have i had to use the earplug socket. It sounds like you use the M8 as a mp3 player so sound is important to you. Note users use their phablets as computers and many make good use of the spen. Sounds like very few of you need these options so i find it odd that you even consider a Note. NOTE users upgrade to the new Note... The rest of u can upgrade to whatever u like but if you criticise Samsung you are telling me you haven't owned a Note and probably have never used an s-pen

The s-pen was what had me switch from the iPhone. I desperately want a stylus. It was sad to have to return the Note 3. Phones are portable audio players as well, especially for podcasts, etc. I very much considered trading it in for a Note2 actually, as I loved every other aspect of the device, and apparently the Note2 has a dedicated Wolfson audio chip that is fantastic. Samsung dropped using the dedicated chips for their more recent phones.

I always thought Bluetooth was independent of these audio chips, but I also had to turn my car radio up FAR higher when connected to the Note3's Bluetooth. Around the max volume in the car at 55 on the dial. I listened to the iPhone around 38. Same with the m8.

Again though, everyone has told me the Note2 didn't have these issues.

I love that they've made the Note4 screen more accurate. If they have a higher audio output on the Note5, that'll definitely be my next phone when my m8 contract runs out.

The s-pen is a killer feature for me for sure... I've considered getting a Note Tab now, as I don't need good audio on a tablet.

I gotta admit I'm intrigued by the Note 4 also. I had the M7 and was a little disappointed when the M8 screen wasn't a bit larger.... But I got it anyway :-D I love the M8 and haven't had any issues with it. I haven't had a Samsung since the Epic 4G. Was never really fond of them since then but something about the Note 4 makes me want to try it out. If HTC made a phablet I'd probably consider that more. And we'll see what this Nexus 6 brings to the table also.

I have had a M8, note 3 and S5 in last few months, now 6 plus. Because of onscreen buttons M8 is only a 4.5" screen for most things. Samsung speakers suck. If I had to choose would be Note 4.

I would wait a little bit longer the next device that comes out might be better

The problem I have with the Note is that there is always something with them that I have to get root and a custom rom to overcome.

In my location reception is a issues that mandates being able to use the various radios that usually becomes available in time just to have good coverage as well as having GPS issues as well. Then there is the always present speaker issues that Samsung can never seem to fix. They feel that everyone should use Bluetooth headsets for everything.

While the screen is stunning and the spen is awesome along with the multi window capabilities I don't think I would give up my m8 for one. I did love my note 2 from day 1 it was available (I stood outside the store waiting till they opened for it on launch day) it was the best phone I had owned up until I got my m8.

If I was wanting something new, it would be high on my list to get, but knowing that motorola might be releasing the droid max turbo equivalent at the holiday season would keep me rooted firmly on the m8, as well as waiting to see what HTC has in the pipeline for then or in the spring.

Lot's of new phones coming out with all the bells and whistles to get excited about.

Gotta remember. With the M8 you have the HTC Advantage Program. That's not something any other company offers. The Note 4 looks awesome but I for one had a bad experience with the Samsung Infuse. It's not only the build quality. That didn't bother me, but at the time of having the phone it was frustrating how delayed any updates were. I held onto the phone for one year and had one update. A minor one at that. And that's ridiculous. HTC focuses more on their phones then Samsung does, which includes getting their updates out ASAP.

My M8 has served me well since the beginning. The Note 4 is a NOTEworthy upgrade, but touchwiz is a major downfall. I say save your money for next year's phones with the new battery tech and snap 810

HTC Advantage if you live in the U.S. HTC runaround if you live anywhere else.

Don't forget 64bit. That future proofs the phone more. I won't even bother until 64bit snap 810 phones come out.

I just picked up my Note 4 yesterday and traded away my M8. The M8 was flawless out of the box and other than the average camera, it was perfect. My experience after about 24 hours is the Note is featured packed but is definitely laggy, and the battery has been less than stellar so far. I'm conditioning the battery so hopefully it will get better. If things stay this way, I might have to go back to my M8.
