HTC Mail Memory Leak/Bug ("Phone Storage Getting Low")

well, I'm sorry to say but for some reason my Exchange email has jumped to 95MB from 1.98 MB's and i haven't changed a thing. Verizon sent me a new phone, but I swithched back to my old phone b/c I think they sent me a factory refurbished phone. It would reset itself about 3-4times a day. i'm so frustrated with this situation. my only hope is that my Exchange Email goes back down, but i doubt that will happen.

Two questions: did it load up a bunch of old mail when you switched phones? Have you double-checked the settings so that you're not keeping/downloading more than a day or two's messages?

HTH!

Please double check your settings, and let us know...

Yes,I have my phone set up with 1 day retrieval.i have it set with all Tuscons suggestions Except I have it set up for only 1 day.I'm so frustrated I wish I could get one of these other mail apps to work with my exchange email.I've taken my exchange email off but the error message has remained any suggestions.

I wonder if it could have something to do with the hardware or that since I've already had this problem for a while that their is some sort of a bug now in my phone. I haven't reset it yet, but I'm sure I'm going to have to. I'm going to call Verizon now to see if they have any suggestions or if they can send me a new phone, not a reconditioned one.

JR sorry it's not working for, I'm stumped...

Haven't reset it in a looooong time. The settings posted seem to resolve it, or it was a fluke.

Hey all, its been a while since I posted but I've been going thru the weekly emails with the HTC Escalations dept. Just today I got a response saying "From what I have been able to replicate. This will only occur if you have the settings to retrieve everything. So if you make sure to keep the settings at more of a limit then this issue should not occur." This seems a little vague, but a little encouraging as well. This was my response to his question of what I had my settings as: "I'm trying to remember what those settings were. Its been a while since I had this app installed. If I remember correctly, I had the Download size set to unlimited and had the Refresh mail when open = On, Down load frequency = As items arrive, Include file attachment = Always."

So just to verify before I reactivate the HTC mail app, the settings that have worked the best for people are what exactly? {TC I'm looking at you :) }

Hey DigitalGuru, Thanks for suggesting Xmarks. I checked out their site and can't find any documentation on syncing/saving bookmarks on/from our phones. Am I missing something here? In the whole scheme of things I guess my bookmarks shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Sorry for not responding, I must have missed it. Yeah its not really set up to take bookmarks from phones, only desktop browsers. But if you set a bookmark in your phone to the Foxmarks website, then you can access your desktop bookmarks on your phone. It's helpful for me at least. Hopefully they'll incorporate the mobile browsers as well soon.

I just reactivated the HTC mail app. I synced 2 POP3 accounts. I've set my settings to:

Temporary Attachment storage = SD card
Mail size limit =100kb
Download options = 3 days
Download frequency = 5 minutes

I hope that these settings don't present a problem. I'll try to keep posting some of my data levels.

Just after reactivating w/2 accounts.

Internal phone memory 6.6gb total, 5.05gb avail
Phone Memory 748mb total, 654mb avail
HTC mail 1.91mb (1.91mb data + 0.00mb cache)

*Keeping fingers crossed!

Hope you have as good luck as I have!

My Settings are Temp Storage = SD card
mail size limit = 25kb
Download three days
Frequency = 15 minutes

After this experiment I may go to just one days worth of downloads, maybe:)

Unfortunately DG, I had all those limits set and still had the dastardly low memory error come up after HTC mail went up tp 113mb. In fact I had it set up for 1 day only and every 15 min. The one thing that is scary is Verizon doesn't seem to be aware of this problem. I would suggest that these forums are great to try and find a solution, BUT make sure you call Verizon so that they are aware that this is not a one off situation. Also because some of the limits work for some people and not others I think some phones were made better than others, just a hunch. I'm getting another phone from Verizon today, it says it's refurbished, but i hope not because they are so new. i'll keep everybody abreast of my situation.
