HTC offers $100 trade-in for HTC One purchases

i mean they dont really have a way to actually check if a device was active right? i was thinking about trading in an old motorola atrix 4g thats worth $27 on their list.

That's where my concern is. My old Hero was active on my account years ago. I plan on sending that to them. If they CAN check if it was the last phone active before I got the One, I'll just re-activate it for a few hours. If they can't check, I won't bother calling sprint to activate it for me on the 18th (I don't think I can just do it online since I had problems in the past with a Wimax to LTE....and this is a LTE to 3g only).

Planning on sending them my Evo 3D, and then selling the Evo LTE. Looks like Craigslist has better prices than Gazelle in my area, although there are a lot of Evo's posted, is demand going to tank after the One is released?

If anyone tries this please let us know. Those talking about activating an old phone briefly... so you will just pay the $36 fee, or is there some free way to activate it?

HTC, whom is giving the rebate can't check your carriers "active phone" records- they are separate companies- at least in the the USA..

This thing is asking for a promo code, has anyone gotten a promo code yet? I have yet to get one and YES, I signed up before the deadline.

I'm planning on sending in the old Moto Backflip. I think we paid a penny for it. If this works, that'll be a pretty good investment. ;)

I would think there could be a way to check when a phone was activated... I could have sworn Best Buy could do it (which would lead me to believe there is some sort of database)....

I would be REALLY surprised if they could actually tell whether or not the darn thing was active. Also, seriously, do they *really* want to deny as many people as possible just for the heck of it? Do they REALLY need to p!$$ people off who are buying their FLAGSHIP phone? I don't think so. I don't think it will be a big deal, so long as it works and isn't stolen. The phone I want to send is worth a whopping 15 bucks, so it's no skin off my nose if it doesn't work out.

Yeah if they started denying people the $100 for "questionable" reasons, they'd see a legitimate class action lawsuit pretty fast. The question becomes where does the burden of proof lie regarding these conditions.

Having trouble with upgrade. got all info put in and clicked finish but no where did it show where to print return label. Can anyone help?

You need the receipt for your old device (trade in phone).

From HTC's Terms of Agreement: The New HTC One? Weekend Exclusive Promotion Terms of Use. | HTC Trade Up Program

Used Smartphone Devices that are sent in that do not qualify either because a) the model of used Device is not eligible or b) the Device is not in the condition stated or c) does not have a qualifying Proof of Purchase will not be eligible for Program and will be recycled without any payment and any OEM incentives are forfeited. After your mail-in your used Device, you cannot get it back, even if you return the merchandise you purchased.

Basically, if you dont have the receipt and you sent it in (because you were excited to get the minimum $100), you just lost your old phone now.
