the battery life is interesting. Doze of course helps a lot, I think I only loose around 5-6% overnight in 8 hours.
the thing that kills the battery on this is the cell signal. if you're in a dead zone and I have several spots like that in my house, you can almost watch the battery percentage tick down as the radio frantically searches for a tower. Especially if LTE is enabled.
I'm not ready to give up on it yet (it's not going to be like my Lumia 1520, which can go a couple days on a charge). I got through yesterday without any issue. I'll try and get better stats today.
I'm curious about why someone would think this felt cheap. Is it because of the weight of it?? It's metal and has a tiny battery. It's just what I expected it to feel like.
I'm coming from a M7 so I missed a couple iterations in between, but I am liking it. It does feel... not cheap, but... hard to put my finger on. It doesn't feel as metallic as my old M7.
I had jumped between a few different app launchers on the M7, but for now I'll stick with the slimmed down Sense. I like it. Don't see myself swiping to Blinkfeed all that often though. The Sense Home/Work widget seems intriguing - like I said I cam from M7 so didn't have it. What's people's experience with it?
It also seems pretty slippery. I had my M7 totally naked since the day I got it and I never really dropped it, or if I did I was always able to get my foot in the way to cushion the fall. I feel I may have to get a case or bumper for this guy as I feel it's more apt to get dropped - seems more slippery.

i've only found a couple non-HTC cases currently in stock at Amazon, most won't be out until December. This one, which I have and it's better than nothing.
And your typical "theater" based rugged case with a kickstand.
I would think you'd be buying a set anyway since the ear phones that have come with my previous phones were marginal at best. I've probably got 5 or six pair in a drawer somewhere. I've got no problem with HTC saving a bit by not sending a pair.
you should have access to google play have you been to this site it has the redemption information? htc . com / us / googleplay - htc - one - a9 / (take out spaces , i can not post links)
Edit: Nevermind you said you purchased on day 1, Seems its only available to those who bought after 11/2
Roosterman, I'm not using GSam yet. I do have location services turned on to get weather as I'm using the Sense skin now. I think I'll remove it and use weather from Beautiful widgets where I can add my home city and turn location off. I'll post again if that makes a difference as I'm sure it will since I recall it did with my M7.
To those who said the phone feels cheap, I don't see that. Mine feels as good as an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S6 in the hand,
Yeah, cheap isn't quite right. I guess I just feel like it somehow seems less significant than my M7. I felt I could hurt somebody with my M7 or something.
I still like it. It's beautiful and feels good, just a slightly different experience.
HTC is still pretty lousy with it's communications. I was just at the US HTC site for A9. I was curious about what would display for the unlocked garnet. When clicking both choices in shows as in stock! Then below this it says "Red Unlocked, T-Mobile & AT&T orders will begin shipping on Dec. 2 based on shipping method."
If it is in stock, why won't it ship until Dec 2? If it won't ship until Dec 2, why is it showing as in stock? HTC is really blowing it with this preorder. :-[

That may be due to their cart system. If it wasn't listed in stock, you might not be able to place the order. Especially as there are colors of the model that are available.
Just got a call from HTC from Buffalo, NY. It was a update call for the red A9 I pre-ordered informing me that it will ship in roughly 2 weeks. I can call in the next 44 hours to change color at no additional cost. Something about either $25 credit or 25% off code as well. This makes me feel a little better, it shows they are actually trying. Sitting here waiting for my Silver one which should be arriving today. I keep hitting refresh on the FedEx tracker xD.
Im looking to get the 32gb unlocked version of the a9 shipped to me, Im in England. will it still work over here on three UK network? Something to do with the LTE bands.... Also is it worth swapping my m8 for the a9?

I am going to drive myself nuts by Dec 2 when my preorder garnet should be shipping. Every time I get a notification that I have an email, I'm praying it is HTC giving me shipping info! Of course, it never is. :-[
On the order page for A9 of HTC site, it says Garnet is Dec 2 expected shipping date. Gold is November 20. This is for the unlocked version.
Just got mine yesterday, so far loving it. Feels quite light, beautiful to look at, and at first glance; it seems to be performing quite well. The camera in low light situations isn't as good as the M8's though. It does feel quite slippery and I'm thinking to take HTC up on their 25% discount on accessories offer and pick up a cover. Missing headphones was a minor bummer and sometimes I block the speaker grill with my fingers due to how I hold the phone in certain situations - the sound is quite good but boomsound convenience it sure isn't.
On my unlocked set, when I got to Personalize (under Settings) and try to change dialer or keyboard color, it only shows Default with no other options to change the color. Anyone else face this?
You have to apply a theme to get an option to change.
