HTC One A9 Why cant I set my downloaded songs as a message sound?

Everytime I set the sound I want as my text message notification sound and I go to the following screen it's set it automatically to "default (dahlia)". It won't play the song even though when I try to change it again it's still selected on the list. I checked my file manager and the songs I want are in the notifications folder. Any ideas?

Same issue , going to SMS clicking the 3 dots. Under notification sound, changing to my tone I placed in notification folder and tap apply. Goes right back to default. Other tones that came with the phone work though..
