HTC One after 4.3 -- Able to quick reply to SMS from lockscreen?

hi all, just wondering what people think about this.

i have AT&T HTC One. i just did the software update, and now i currently have:

Android 4.3
HTC Sense 5.0
Software number 3.17.502.3
HTC SDK API 5.45

i don't have any google play apps installed that alter the lock screen or SMS functionality.

the first day i did the software update, i received a SMS text while my phone was locked. through some random process of picking up and waking up my phone that i have never again been able to replicate, i was prompted with the ability to quick reply to that SMS from the lock screen, without having to unlock the phone, and without launching the SMS application. while still at the lockscreen, a popup appeared in the middle of the screen that allowed me to reply to the sender.

when i opened the text application later, the text i sent from the lockscreen was there as part of the conversation.

any idea how this happened, and how i can do it again? i like the functionality! (without having to install 3rd party apps)

There is a way to change lock screen features..maybe that's what happened

anyone else have this happen since upgrading to 4.3?

I've always had to use another app such as ChompSMS or something.
