HTC One - carrier locked or unlocked for updates

My HTC one is currently locked to Vodafone and still haven't had any indication when update 4.3 will be available nevermind 4.4 kit Kat.

If I unlock the phone will updates be available quicker compared to it being locked?

I'm not sure if unlocking the device to a different carrier would make things any quicker. HTC has stated they will get Android 4.3 out to all the HTC One's then start work on 4.4. Best to stay patient and check with Vodafone to see when they are rolling out the update.
