I don't think they hashed it out. My guess is that Samsung paid VZW a lot of money to make sure the One was delayed. Either that or HTC needed that time to figure out how to fit the OS on the device along with the VZW bloat into just 8 GB of storage...lol!
Such a deal could never take place, because it would be an anticompetitive action on the part of Samsung.
More likely is that Verizon wanted to either 1) See how the One performed on the other carriers, 2) Give themselves some space so they could get the attention when launching it, 3) Let HTC ramp production up to meet the demand they believe they'll have (most likely for me), or 4) Give themselves as much space between the DNA and One as possible.
