HTC One coming to Verizon - Announced

I don't think they hashed it out. My guess is that Samsung paid VZW a lot of money to make sure the One was delayed. Either that or HTC needed that time to figure out how to fit the OS on the device along with the VZW bloat into just 8 GB of storage...lol!

Such a deal could never take place, because it would be an anticompetitive action on the part of Samsung.

More likely is that Verizon wanted to either 1) See how the One performed on the other carriers, 2) Give themselves some space so they could get the attention when launching it, 3) Let HTC ramp production up to meet the demand they believe they'll have (most likely for me), or 4) Give themselves as much space between the DNA and One as possible.

The amount of DNA stock they were sitting on likely affected the choice as well. Once they get the Ones in, that stuff gets tough to move.

Very likely. Do you think there's people out there when faced with both would buy the DNA though? Just because it is a "DROID"? I think perhaps, though I doubt Verizon counted on this. I still laugh whenever I have to explain to someone that my phone is not a DROID. "Is that the new DROID?"
"No I have Sprint service."
This is usually followed by very strange looks.

Some people might prefer the 5" screen and having all three buttons. Also, people who want an international device can use the DNA for that purpose and people who confuse the difference between megapixels and ultrapixels and think 8 is better than 4. I'd suspect if they were side by side, the DNA would likely command a lower on contract price, which captures some people's attention too.

Poor Sprint :(

great. now I have to chose between this and the S4. after months of petitioning in my mind against HTC, I must admit not having it on verizon made it easier. but, since it's release, I'm realizing this is not your grandfathers HTC. I've owned 3 HTC smartphones, (eris, tbolt, rezound) and all have lacked big time. the kicker is no jellybean update for the Rezound. so now, the price point for the One will make this really interesting. time will tell.

I agree wholeheartedly. the DNA was dropped down to $19.99 on some sites a few weeks back, and I believe it's still running $49.99 for upgrade on amazon. I seriously doubt the assertion that samsung paid off verizon to delay the phone, that's just ridiculous.

I had the Incredible then the Rezound. Both had horrid battery life, but the Rezound had a beautiful screen, good camera and solid design. ICS helped it, but no Jellybean blows. My Rezound died and I specifically looked for used phones that would be getting or did have JB. Ended up with a like new Bionic with JB for under $100. Miss the camera and screen from the Rezound, but love JB and slightly better battery life. I agree with you, the HTC One isn't your grandfathers HTC. LOL. So it coming to Verizon has me interested in an HTC device again.

Has HTC announced and battery replacement program after the 1 year warranty expires? Apple, of course, has a battery replacement for $99. HTC has to step up here.

48 days to upgrade. I think My Rezound can tell. all of a sudden the battery life is so much better. no dice, mi amigo...you're getting traded in for either the S4, Note 2 or (sigh) HTC One.

Spot on!

I'd buy that, but most folks here seem to not have had a problem with either of those issues but the lower storage is definitely a competitive disadvantage
