You certainly did. Bums me out on your behalf. Have you contacted customer support? I'd be pretty insistent with them and even refer them to this thread. You deserve a good cam. Maybe, whoever they have replacing the cracked ones will be able to fix your scuffed one.

I have to wonder if they used different materials for the lens cover as mine refuses to scratch, even without a case and it gets wiped off several times a day with the corner of my shirt. If someone asked me about the durability of this phone I'd say it's the best I've ever seen, based on my experience. But, some people are clearly not so fortunate.

This is what mines never been out of. How the lens has scuffed I don't know.

You could try using a very small amount of toothpaste and buff the lens cover. Toothpaste has some grit in it that acts as an abrasive and will polish the cover. It's worth a shot

I have been researching solutions and that was one of them. I'll send it to HTC first. If they say it's abuse I'll start messing with it. Worse case scenario is ordering a new back cover and attempting to replace it myself using the Ifixit teardown as reference..

Same here, I use my phone with a full body skin, so pretty much naked, and it refuses to scratch

I already contacted them and explained. They sent me a shipping label and will determine if it's a defect or not.

Sad thing is that I carry my M8 the exact same way I did with my M7 for a year and there are still no scratches on it. I am so anal about keeping my phones pristine.. totally aggravating.

It's common to source parts from different manufacturers in order to fulfill huge obligations, like the launching of a smartphone.

Left picture is April 27th.. Right picture is tonight.. Does it not look like it is spreading from where it started? I swear nothing but a microfiber cloth has come near this lens since the first picture.

I too baby my phone, and am getting the same sort of scratches on my camera lens cover. I noticed it a couple of days ago, even though my M8 has spent most of it's life in an Otterbox. The secondary camera lens cover, the FFC cover, and my main screen are pristine. It's clear that the rear camera lens cover is made of a different material that is more susceptible to scratching - at least in my case.

I know there are at least two production runs out there - ones that the serial number starts with FA, and others that start with HT. Mine is an FA. I wonder if those that are having the scratching problems are also FA phones? And if those that insist their lens covers are perfect are HT?

Mine starts with an FA but i'm not showing any signs of scratching or cracks(almost 3 weeks old). I have to say though, these photos are scaring me. Is there no way to replace the lens without taking the device apart? I feel for those that are having these problems. It's just not right.

Maybe it's the cases that are causing these scratches. The cutout over the lens cover kinda funnels anything (keys or other objects) that could scratch it? Just a thought

As I've mentioned before, mine reflects like glass, gets cool like glass, and when I tap on it it sounds just like the touchscreen, not like the plastic flash cover. If they are different parts, they wouldn't necessarily have a different production run. Say, if their glass lens supplier couldn't get them enough supply, they would get additional from whoever could get the order fulfilled.

I don't think it's the case. By that line of reasoning, the secondary depth sensor lens cover would be seeing the same problems.

That's very likely. Again, it's clear to me, that at least on my phone and some others in this thread, that there are camera lens covers out there that are of a different material that is susceptible to scratching.

Mine (majorly scratched) is FA also.
Note, not one scratch on any other camera or surface.

Mine was 3/6/14 and my serial number begins with FA. Also not a single scratch on my lens, however my girlfriend's has scratches and she uses a case. This is why I thought using a case may be an issue.
